I wasn't allowed to get my first job until I was 24 yrs old. The last 6 yrs I have been in AZ and worked in daycare, hospital, nursing homes, McDonald's and Domino's pizza. For the last 4-5 years I haven't filed IRS taxes, but seeing as the govt owes me money they will probably never notice.

Wanderess ( or anyone else) you can ask whatever nosy question you want...I could probably write a book to answer everyone's questions but thats ok.

I mostly rent or stayed with friends in AZ. For 18 months in AZ, I sorta did a caretaking job and only had to pay the utilities. Now that I'm back in NH, I have stayed with different family members.

If anyone wants to check out a community living spot in NH, then go to www.dacres.org it's in the same town as 1 cousin and looks pretty cool.
Only cost $15 a week along with 26 hours of work to stay there.

Sounds sort of alright that place, but its late here, but I will read all about it tomorrow. I'm too far away, but I may know some state side that may go for it. so am e-mailing the link to them. B.T.W, the place does use solar panels + rechargable batteries etc dunnit to minimise costs etc?

I fix the targeting, weapons delivery , navigation, communication and display systems on F/A 18C Hornet warplanes for the USN. I guess I am not a hippie. I was always more of a deadhead and If I met me(now) 7 years ago, I would talk shit to me. I am good at what I do, and if it werent a Military application what I do aint that bad, electronics is electronics. But I know I have innocent blood on my hands. Judge me.

In the words of Perry Ferrell, " some people, deserve to die, that just unconscious fucking knowledge" I hope that along with the innocent blood, I have some justified blood in there too. Wont Damn me less. Hell awaits me. But some things need to occur that hippies typically are not willing to do.

your perception of hell does not await you :) . you have to survive + over there in the US U seem to have the FREEDOM to WERK or DIE. thus its not your fault. you do your job to survive, but I know that you have better tallents that can pay more than your current job can + thats in the pc games market ;) . Don't worry, I don't have anything against you, honest, you are surviving + there is nothing wrong in that :) as U have to.

Harm nor insult is NEVER meant by me honestly. So peace be with you :) .

Hey squawkers7, I am a mom to 7 kids also! Most of them were born at home. I've got 3 grandchildren now (2 of which were born at home!...my daughter is such a freak!)

Raising my kids is the only job I've ever had that was worth anything. The pay is mostly in hugs and kisses from sticky faces, but the rewards are eternal.

I had my son Donovan at home also and couldn't believe how easy it was to do...the idea was in my head for years as i had a horrible time in the hospital years before with my daughter Sarah.

One day I thought "how do I find a mid-wife?" I opened the yellow pages and there she was!!
The whole experience was one of the most beautiful in my life and it is the one thing I kept focused on when his dad and I split up and he was being a bit of a jerk, it helped me keep a good image of him in my mind and not give in to the moment.
We are great friends now and is getting married in a few weeks and I couldn't be happier for him...so the experience actually grew into other things.

Sorry to hijack the thread and turn it into old homebirth week....lol

well seeing as this thread got started by asking what we do for a living, turning this into "old homebirth week" is ok seeing as some of us would like to do that.
As I said before, my 9 yr old son was born at home and it was the best birthing experience I had. I have worked in a hospital in AZ, and wondered what all the confusion was about giving birth. Giving birth was a piece of cake for me....caring for them for the next 18 yrs was harder especially when their dad acted like the biggest spoiled baby in the house.
Have also worked as a substitute teacher about 10 yrs ago...mostly K-8th grade. Depending on the class and how many notes the regular teacher left for you, sub. teaching isn't always easy but always interesting. There was always at least 1 child to teach me something for the day also.

I give piano lessons to mostly first-graders...kids really are easy to teach music. They don't have the pre-concieved ideas that things are "too hard" like many adults! I also sell a bit of art through a local gallery, owned by a friend who doesn't take the 30% comission that most do. And my husband who takes the bigger load, is thrilled I get paid to do things I love and make a little money. That way he doesn't hear too much bitching, as he would probably hear a lot of if I had a regular "job".

Now thats the point I was making, over here if U can't get to the hospital or the ambulance can't get there fast enough ( all is FREE ) then a midwife or DR will turn up on your doorstep ( for free ) + sort your births out etc. No need for VERY expensive health insurance polocies etc. its the NHS + its free.

If i went anywhere within europe then i would get free 100% top rate medical care no matter what country I was in for FREE. Here in the uk we pay about £12 per week in national health insurance or if one is on welfare its paid for free. + if you get sick + a hospital is full in the uk, U have the right to get on a plane + goto another euro country + get free top class healthcare etc.

Thats what I was on about. So harm was never meant, I just had to explain better.

Or if you are financially well to do, then you can get ANYTHING at any time! Like in the USA.

But for poor people, we have real rights :) .

    Peace :) .

I've done lots of things over the years. I was a park ranger, a retail zombie, a hotel maid, a waitress, a teacher. The last few years, I was a social worker, but I recently quit. It was too taxing on my heart. I think I am going to go back to teaching. But, right now, I'm at home with my daughter, trying to figure out how my family can move halfway across the country (again).
