I have a fever of 101.4 degrees.....not going to the doctor though, I have no health insurance *cry* I'm super cold as well, and it's like 80 degree in here.
Thanks olhippie I'm all bundled in my favorite blanket, but I'm still freezing *sniffle* great, my nose is running now
Sniffles, coughing, fever, headache, I'm really cold even though I'm wrapped like a burrito, and my eyes are...hot. Like burning, but not dry, cos they're watering a lot :&
takd a couple ummm, id it tylenol or advil that makes the cold & flu thingy? just stay on clear liquids, & tylenol or something for the fever, are u coughing anything up & if so what color is it?
Ugghh, I hope you feel better sweetie. There's so much of that sickness going around. My oldest son just got over it, and got it right back again. I ran out last night and bought some vitamin C drops for him since he's not all that find of juice (just water and milk for him really) I swear by drinking a tall glass of OJ once a day when the first signs of illness come along. It seems to knock it out before it can really begin. Then again, maybe it's partly a placebo effect. Mind over matter. Oh well, vitamin C is definitely proven to help. Hugs, and I hope you feel better...
When I was a child, my mom used to make some kind of rub that she would use on my when I was sick with a cold. I think it was mustard plaster? I remember that I didn't like the smell, but it worked! Oh and she always made me hot lemonade when I had a cold. Sounds weird, but it was very soothing.
doctors can't help a virus anyway. don't waste your money. get some theraflu and drink a ton of water. baby yourself. poor thing. i hate being sick. it feels like i've been violated by the universe intentionally.
mint tea or ginger ale... helps settle the tummy too which is lovely vicks vapo rub is what hippychickmommy was talking about I think... good if you're feeling at all congested, just apply lightly to start with since it can feel really damn strong for some people
No, no, no, it's wasn't Vick's, it was a homemade concoction. I found a recipe for it... Mix 1/2 teaspoon of mustard seed powder with 1 tablespoon of flour. Use either bought mustard seed powder or grind fresh seeds. Add cool water to the mixture gradually till it turns into a paste. And here are directions how to use it... Put a tight-fitting T-shirt on the patient and tuck her into bed. Tear a piece of old flannelette off an old pair of pyjamas, nighty, or diaper, about 12" x 6". Spread the paste on half of the flannelette. Fold over the flannelette. Place on a plate and warm in an oven or microwave to take the chill off. (Only for comfort and can be skipped if not convenient.) Only warm slightly. Don't cook or else the flour will get hard. Place the pack on the patient's chest and secure with the T-shirt. Tuck patient back into bed. Check occasionally to make sure the skin does not turn raw. If you are alone and have no one to monitor the skin color while you are asleep, be sure to set an alarm clock to wake you in a few hours, because you don't want to turn into a boiled lobster That's the remedy my mama used to use on me when I was really sick. Sounds weird, but it really worked!
