My husband and I, so far have decided not to have children. He even got snipped. This is because of health reasons. However, I've been noticing lately that when I get my period, I get "Baby Itch". I want a baby really bad, I want to be pregnant and all that. The other 3 weeks of the month, I am fine with not having kids and if I had the chance, I would still decline. It's just when I have PMS, I get this insane urge to get pregnant, and I want it really bad, enough to make me think I'm being silly the rest of the month. Just wondered if anyone else gets this?
It's totally natural. Your body is telling your hey, I'm built for having babies! That whole biological clock thing.
We all get a little nuts during that one week in the month. Yesterday i was sitting with my friend in her garage crying into my little bag of cookies and sobbing that my boyfriend is cheating on me (which i only suspect during my period). Some of us want babies and some eat cookies but it all comes from the same thing. Next week will be better.
yes you all go nuts during that one week a month and it the boilgocal thing everyone has talked about.
This is something I go through quite often too . It seems to have grown more intense the older I get .I feel that its a natural part of being a woman ,you know you hear about the"Maternal Instinct". I think its a natural part of being us.Im not saying that woman who dont experiance this have anything wrong with them. Its just more intense in some i guess.
I seem to have the opposite problem. I DON"T want kids and don't know if I ever will want them. My husband is pressuring me to have one and it's really irritating.
PMS can really do a number on some womyn. I know for me, I get really weird when I am pms'ing (now, for example). It definitely sounds like hormones and very sensitive emotions and all that. I believe that all sorts of things go on before / or during our periods. I don't trust any of my thoughts when I pms, but it's definitely seems to be different for each womyn.
hmmm, pms makes you think differently, just before your period your body is 'hoping' for a baby, your hormone levels are at full tilt to support a pregnacy, you menstruate when your body realises there is no baby pumping out the corresponding hormones so you may well feel more maternal at this time. can i ask what your reasons are for not having kids, it may be that you are beginning to feel differently but you can surpress it most of the time.
ach, me too. My friends think I'm being silly because I'm 16, but it is such a strong desire. I;m always so glad when it goes again
Actually I suspect that this may be true, about beginning to feel differently but suppressing it most of the time... As for the reason of not having children, originally it was because my health was not permitting for me to ever have children. My health is a bit better now, but it would still be very difficult, I guess I am just starting to be willing to risk it. My husband had a vasectomy because of this, although it can be reversed. The problem is he is not sure HE is ready for kids, and honestly I guess I'm not either, I just know I WANT them. My PMS is now over since I wrote the first post of this thread, and deep down I still want children... but I'm not going nuts over wanting to get pregnant so badly anymore. LOL. That will come again next month I'm sure.
I know I am done having children, but I still have occasional "baby lust." I thought I was over it, as my last baby nursed for 4 and a half years, and I was actually not baby lusting for a while. I am a Lactation Consultant, so I hold babies almost ever day. Yesterday I had weigh ins, (I weigh my clients babies for thier doctors) and held a bunch of babies. One little guy was just so cute and fat and totally breastfed and smelled SOOOOOOO good, that I didn't want to hand him back to his mama! He was nuzzling my chest and smiling at me and I just wanted to hold him for hours! I was teasing my dh later that I "smelled" the baby and he said "Keep away from me tonight, womyn!" I am almost positive I am ovulating and my dh knows I get like that when I am fertile. I often have baby dreams and crave holding and nursing babies when I am ovulating. If I were to get pregnant now, I would be 43 when the baby is born, and I already have four kids and I am DONE! But I still have baby lust sometimes. It is natural, but be careful with sex when you have baby lust, you are MORE likely to end up pregnant! I swear!
wow bree and i thought i was the only one..lol...nope your not alone...every month i want one more and more..but my boyfriend doesnt want any for awhile...no fair i tell ya..lol
Maggie, I know what you mean! I held a girlfriend's baby yesterday, and he was so delicious and chubby! When I held him up over my head to coo at him he drooled in my eye and mouth when he squealed with laughter! I miss that! But only for a moment before I snap out of it! I loved being pregnant too. I felt so sexy, womanly, and beautiful! I loved my man like no tomorrow, too! I must really have my quiver full, because I can hold a baby and enjoy him before handing him over without babylust! Anyhoo, I got my tubes tied, so I can babylust without fear!
I want babies AND cookies! I use to tell an ex of mine, when we were still together, that I never wanted kids. He laughed and told me that my biological clock would kick in. He was right. Interestingly enough, my boyfriend's biological clock ticks louder than mine does. He's been having baby dreams and talking about it during just about every conversation. It's his main goal in life... to have a large family.
Well I'm very glad to see this thread. I get the "baby itch" too. I never thought about how it might be hormones. Very eye-opening! Wow. Maybe knowing that will make it easier to deal with. There was some other post I saw with a girl saying the same thing. So good to know I'm not the only one!
yeah i had the baby itch the other day, i ended up adopting a kitty as a solution. the way i see it, not only does it solve the baby need, it also allows you to make up cute names.
