cats in a bottle, horrible!

you know, i saw that site about a year ago and fell for it at first, completely appauled, shocked, and sickened...until i saw the rotten.com logo at the bottom...then i just started laughing my fool head off because rotten.com is a JOKE site. bonsai kitten is SOCIAL SATIRE, so don't panic. no one would get away with such animal cruelty, and there's no way an animal could survive living in a jar. if you look at the photos on the site, you can tell the photos are doctored with photoshop. it's a joke, and although a very offensive and tasteless one, it does have a place in our society because of freedom of speech. don't like it, don't look at it. focus your energies on helping REAL victims of cruelty such as lab animals and animals that are raised in "puppy mills" and sold in pet shops...or animals that are abused by their "owners," or animals that live in a house with an animal hoarder, someone who has way too many pets. report any REAL animal cruelty you see to your local humane society, the police, and to PETA, because animals aren't our personal playthings. they are to be respected as living creatures, not exploited. but don't let shit like this website distract you from REAL cruelty that's happening every day.

 

ehm.. what makes you think Rotten is a joke site? You think the pictures of those dead bodies etc are fake?

 

for the record, i haven't completely explored rotten.com. i've only heard of it from other people and i've heard it's a joke site. forgive me for speaking out of turn. i'm sorry.

actually, it is very possible that some of those things are fake. ever heard of tom saviny? he did the zombie makeup for romero's dawn of the dead, and he has a special effects school in pittsburgh, pennsylvania. some of his students made this horribly graphic film about torturing and killing people which looked VERY real, and in fact was all special effects and fake. but i haven't seen those pictures, so i'm not sure. sorry again for speaking out of turn. when i laughed i was going on what i'd been TOLD about the site, not what i actually saw.

OK well this post is getting WAY off topic. you failed to recognize that i pointed out that people should focus their energies on helping animals that are REALLY in danger. but instead you decided to attack what i said about rotten.com and completely deviate from the topic of this post, which is animals being mistreated.

 

furthermore, the FBI did EXTENSIVE investigations on bonsaikitten.com and found it to be a fake. THAT was the topic of this post, NOT the validity of the pictures on rotten.com.

 

we already established that bonsai kitten is a hoax (it's a very old hoax as well) but the reason you gave for it to be a hoax was because it's apperantly associated with Rotten.com.. I just pointed out that Rotten is not a hoax. You had your information from 'hear say' and I just wanted to give you some true information.. that's all. About going offtopic.. well.. how often when people talk to they stick to the exact same topic that they started out with? Exactly Plus I've seen threads go wayyyy more offtopic than this one.. I think my favorite one was one in the 'introduce yourselfs' forum where someone started talking about suicide or sth like that and it ended up with everyone talking about rhino-sex.. hehe. Chill .. I'm not attacking you.

I went to the website you posted and just started balling! My husband came over to find out what was going on and started laughing at the pictures. I was appalled but he said it was just a joke and not real. AND to make sure I knew it was a joke he went and looked it up at Snopes and it is indeed a joke. One way you can tell is that there is no way to actually order one of these. So as cruel of a joke as this is I am glad it is just a joke!!!!!!!!!!

That was a joke, btw. Most people have fits when I say that, so I have to start putting a disclaimer on it. Naturally, these are the same people who claim that animal rights activists are oversensitive.

I imagine that she did not go very deeply into the site, which is why she didn't realize it was just a joke. And I did not see the baby picture, but I didn't look very deeply either.

 

That is the saddest and most horrifying thing I have seen in a long while. I really do not understand why some people are so twisted, it makes me feel physically sick to know that there are people out there who can even think of an idea like this.
