I can help! I could be able to write something for the paper. I think it would be a great idea to have it printed out and distributed in different cites around the country. I could cover the Dutchess County, NY area (near Poughkeepsie), but we still have to get this organized.



I am completely behind this 110%, if anyone isn’t just don’t say anything! *not trying to sound to harsh*



A good way to distribute it would be to:

1. Put money into a newspaper thingy

2. Steal all the newspapers

3. Put your news papers in the box

4. Jam the door open

5. Stick a sign on top that says “FREE” on it

6. Try and sell the stolen newspapers



This is not my idea, I read it in Steal This Book and I’m sure it will work.

also seeing as how this will probably be a consistent thing, you probably shouldnt do it every saturday or make a habit, seeing as its very probable someone wont like the paper, and report it.

 

how big is this magazine going to be? what will it contain? how much will it cost? who will edit/contribute?

I would suggest that you look at other projects like the "country bizarre" magazine- published in the '70s I think. they published 4 times a year, contributing to it was free and the magazine was relatively cheap

I could try and write something sometimes, stuff like happening in Europe and I could share some of my poems about society, if that's the kind of stuff you're looking for?

yeah, thats the idea... arts, politics, philosophy, news, happenings(festivals, protests, concerts, etc.)... things like this. please, feel free to submit anything you feel worthwile... i will have lots more together by, say, friday or saturday. til then, continue thinking. freak out!

 

Heh, my friend and I once thought of making a newsletter called "Angry Unemployed Insomniac Leftists," but we were always too busy/lazy to really get it off the ground.

I'm willing to help, I'm going into journalism as a future career field anyway. Though, nothing happens here where I live in the Midwest, and after this summer I'll be abroad. But I'll be happy to throw in opinion columns maybe, and I also draw cartoons, so if you need any editorial/strip/whatever cartoonists I'll be happy to try and fill that niche.

 

It sounds like a good idea; I think if we all work together we could really make this newspaper idea a reality! So we just need to work out the details.

im in! i can write well when i want to, and i can do pictures too.and poems especially i like. email me! and we should probably decide wuts on it soon.

 

this is a lot bigger than i expected... so here's a thought:

for all the different regions we represent, we can add a section in addition to the main body of the material... a local section if you will.

the main body, i think, should be a collection of the material we deem worthy of filling the pages... not to be an ass or anything, but EVERYTHING cant be printed in the paper. like i said before, this is not a bush-bashing-pot-smokers digest. nor is it a forum to spew baseless and otherwise ill-informed opinions. if you wanna do that, then youre already in the right place. i mean, i want this to be about real issues, real events, and real art... i also think that the people who write about things should know what theyre writing about, a lack of credibility will put a quick end to all this. dont get me wrong, feel free to submit anything you want. i cant guarantee you that it will be printed though. it looks like this is actually going to happen, thanks for the overwhelming response.

heh... i think me and a friend decided to start a pirate radio station instead... and i didnt come here for a while cause work is a biyatch... then i had a car wreck and i dont have to work or go to school or anything... so yeah... that's what became of this idea... thanks to everyone again
