a jewphin.. "mr garrison, i cant give back your organs... i used your testicles to make knees for a little boy who wanted to be black and your scrotum made the fin of a man who wanted to be a dolphin" best epsiode ever
South Park is awesome. I loved that episode with George Bush as a Turd Sandwich and Kerry as Giant Douche
I'd be surprised if anybody knew what this episode was making fun of. Okay, so... sexual reasignment surgery began to gain a lot of popularity by the 1970's. Gay men would actually seek to have a sex change for various reasons, other than truly identifying as a transwoman. At the beginning of the episode, it gives no background information on what Mr. Garrison did to end up at the Trinidad clinic. There was no proof that Mr. Garrison had followed The Benjerman Standards; much less, that they were even necessary. Well, The Benjerman Standards were introduced in order to prevent people from making hasteful decisions. Many of those who were not truly transgendered would often times commit suicide some time after realizing the mistake they had made. The episode just goes out of control from there... Anywho, I thought it through, and I think the creators of South Park did an EXCELLENT job of setting up this episode. Mr. Garrison was very anti-gay as he was in denial; he learned to hate homosexuals. Then, even after he finally accepted his sexual orientation, he just grew more and more disgusted with gay men in general; except the ones he fancied. He grew to hate who he was and thought that changing his sex would relieve his self-loathing... It was a brilliant idea to make such a satire... Only those who are educated about the specifics of this subject matter, can truly laugh at this episode. Trust me, it's absolutely hilarious if you know about the stuff... some of it is so absurd.
Well, if I did overanalyze it, then... what the fuck is the point of the episode? Terms that were mixed up and other curious parts of the episode outline the actual satire. The surgeon calls phaloplasty (FtM sex change...) a pinoplasty; a word that doesn't even exist. The episode also provides a satire against surgeons in general; I'm sure there were actual cases where a surgeon actually talked a patient into a procedure, just to get the money in the person's wallet...
