i've left my hair to dread, naturally, over the past few months. however my problem is that its dreaded to much, i have a bunch of large bunches of hair that have come together to form some HUGE short dreads. i was wondering if there is any way to separate these large matted areas into real dreads??? my hairs faily short, about 8 inches, but its REALLY curly so it only just goes over my eyes and just reaches my shoulder, as it grows longer will these matted areas form seperate dreads? any help would be greatly aprisiated!
if it bugs you too much you could always try rippin them apart..but i gotta agree with dancerannie the phat ones are the coolest, all the more character!!
well honnesstly my 1st set of dreads i didnt seperate em & they pulled up into 2 horns on top & a pillow in back.. the key to natural dreads ids to keep seperating em , fat dreads are wonderful for sure, but when u get all the dreads on 1 side of your head growin together it can be annoying, i seperate my dreads afer i wash em on the other hand, the guy with the longest hair in the world has just 1 super fat dread (something rediculouse like 35 or 65 feet long) i would recommend though throughout the dreading proccess (and cntinuing years later) just periodicaly pull the individual dreads apart
My friend dreaded a few years ago, had a few small ones, and one big hound dog ear on the other side. he had "shit head" rather than "dread head"
i had a freind exactly like that, he put a ring in 3 fat dreads on 1 side pulling all the drads on that side into 1 massive mat, it really didnt look that good on him nice thick dreads are 1 thing, a massive messs isa totaly dofferent story
I think your right soaring eagle, my hair is just like a mat at some spots, i really need to separate it. How would you go about doing this, i tried just pulling them apart, but there still atached near the roots, and i cant pull them apart anymore any ideas?? should i cut it, or what?
well it woulda been better to seperat them earlir before the roots are too connected..sometimes thats unavoidable & once a couple are totaly joined i let em go, unless its just entirely too much then u can try just carefuly snipping the hairs connecting the rootsbut i've never done that, i do have 2 connected at th end that annot me..makesa big loop, & i'm concidering cutting thejm loose if its just like 2 connected, just let em go, but if itds several yea i'd say just cut betweeen them
Cut up the middle and then hardcore palm roll em. But thats just what I would do, not sayin its correct. Cut hair knots together well, so it should kinda tangle into shape.
while ill try putting a bunch of conditioner in and then separating them, and if that doesnt work i guess ill cut some of the really matted parts its too bad i didnt do something earlyer
