Would it really be so bad? No more war (not like 1984, with 3 countries always at war). Many spiritual leaders, like Krishnamurti, Ghandi (i think?), etc have said we need to get rid of nationalism and come together. So there seems to be two sides to the issue. The evil, and the good. Forgetting whether it is really possible, lets just discuss hypothetically, whether it would be desirable or not to have one world government.

Who and what would the governing body be made up of?
who gets to be the ruling class and what kind of government structure will it be?

Will there be equal representation of men and women in the government?
There had better be, because I don't think that the 3+ billion women of Earth are gonna tolerate legal, cultural, and societal oppression any longer if given the chance to escape from the cages created by smaller, isolated governments.

What system of values, ethics, and morals will our laws be based on?
Will they be based on Judeo-Christian values? Secular values based on common sense? Taliban values?

What is the plan for installing said government without starting mass wars and carnage?
Because, believe it or not, there are a couple billion people on this planet that don't want everyone to have equal rights and peace, especially for women.

World government is nice in theory because of the no wars and no agression over territory, but the problem is that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely, and anyone in charge of a world government will definitly follow that saying...

how about people like krishnamurti or ghandi? or sri ramakrishna or neem korali baba......people like buddha, lao tsu, jesus

someone who has attained the final goal of our evolution...the enlightened who desire nothing and have everything..the people that see themselves in every creature on earth...a person who would die before stepping outside the bounds of truth

AMEN! I couldn't agree with both of you more!

While all these utopian ideas sound good on the surface, always remember we live in an imperfect world, thus utopia is never an option! Some of the greatest utopian visionaries in the past put some of their plans into action which resulted in horrific nightmares. An attainable feat is living in a world that is a grand sight better than what exists today.
