    kc,

Durango is a pretty place. There has to be a place near you that has a metaphysical bookstore. I'm trying to think back to my numerous vacations... maybe there's one in Dove Creek, Rico County. (One of the most beautiful places in America. I hear Pagoso Springs isn't too bad, either.)

pagosa's okay, but they tend to appeal more the the upper middle class vacationers who can afford it. i'm sure i can find one here in town. there's a college here, and hippies abound...just have to call around.

i've decided on the gilded tarot and the housewives tarot. each appeal to a part of my dual nature. i feel pretty good about the purchase.

i dont know you too well, but i can see that you would want the gilded, but the housewives is a total surprise to me! but its cute. oh , i see, its the 50's style that probably appeals to you? i was talking to one of my best friends tonite, and i decided that im gonna make my own tarot cards. hopefully it will be a good idea. it'll be fun at te least. i got the cards and the colors and stuff. im pretty excited, i freakin love projects, and i think they'll be really easy to read and more personal this way. i dont know anyone who's ever made thier own.

they say you should never buy your own cards: someone should give them to u. which i know doesn't answer your q but maybe that's why the deck feels wrong.

the housewive's deck totally appeals to my dry humor and sense of order. the colors really caught me, too.

actually, that's a myth, though even as such, it applies only to your first deck. my first deck was a rider-waite given to me, and i just did not click in any way with it. it's just a buncha paper to me.

lol. yeah, i saw all those in the phone book when i went looking. but i didn't like their prices...i decided to support the capitalist pigs at amazon.com. but a portion of the sales goes to aeclectic!!

but i'm definitely going to have to go browse a little when i get off bed rest.

i use the Crowley Thoth deck...the pictures are abstract and the words at the bottom help in remembering what each card represents. make sure if you use this deck though, that you get a guide for it...the card meanings dont always match other decks (some cards are in different orders due to the placement on the tree of life) and crowley has hidden meanings in his work.

Part of the problem with card readings is whether to accept what everyone has come to believe they mean or what you read symbolically. In this regard the Thoth deck has always left me cold.
