They entered Venezuelan territory and took control of an island in Venezuela?
    Very interesting. More info?

Many are recruited from third world countries. First the US starve them out, then they recruit them.

The U.S. doesn't start wars in South American countries.....

They send in special ops teams who train a group of mercinaries or revolutionaries on how to overthrow the government, and they once a revolution or coup d'etate has started they bring in a puppet dictator/president. This has been going on for years.

Noriega used to be a buddy of the U.S. until he turned on it. Much the same for Saddam. What nice guys to be supporting. :)

I doubt that we'd ever get involved in Africa, after Somalia and Rwanda the United States doesn't like to get involved on that continent.
As for venezuela, we don't have the money or resources to launch any type of significant invasion at this point.

This is just Chavez scaremongering his own population to rally round the flag. Funny how people can't imagine that happening abroad, oh no...

It work for Castro in the last 40+ years Chavez took notice. Also same thing here with the Drug Wars so actually we are not much smarter.

a war on anything will unite ppl like that..

but i agree with somethingwitty in that i'd think a coup or "revolution" would be started through the natives, rather than an invasion by a foreign country. it's so much more effective.

It reminds me of Bush's remark at his state of the union about Saddam and the giant mushroom cloud rising over the U.S. Nothing like spouting off remarks about an enemy that's supposedly trying to invade to conjure up patriotism and support for an administration.
