nobody here knows robyn hitchcock... i don't get it...he is so awesome, great singer/songwriter... and he's cute! *nobody agrees on that one..but hey* oh and he's funny...*sigh*... he's been making great music for years now... he makes this syd barrett kinda music. barrett fans will like him i'm sure...
oooh and he's a great painter too! and on that weird pic, he's wearing a self portrait...omg he's a genius!
ah yeah, he seems to be a good guy to me but don't worry, honey, a lot of bands I love, knows nobody here..
I've never heard of him either...but I checked out that site. What's up with that tomato thing? lol Anyways, maybe I can find some of his music online..
LOL yeah the whole tomato thing...well that tomato on that white with black candle thing...that's how he sees himself...lol. spooked is his best album. it's just so good. *awww soaringeagle thinks i'm sweet! that's sweet...*
Didn't know him either but I just noticed that "Spooked" has Gillian Welch and David Rawlings on it so it's definitly worth checking out :H
yes, he has also did great shows with grant lee philips. comedian/music shows and that kinda stuff. he makes music that can make you laugh, but it can be very touching sometimes too, i love this song called full moon in my soul. and he did this approach the whole world in a different way music movie called storefront hitchcock. kinda comedy/music/political thing, it's on ebay a lot, very cheap. but definatly woth it.
I know of him and own I think all of his albums, he's much too much of a Syd wannabe.. I'd rather listen to the real thing.
he admits he loves syd, and that his early work is very much influenced by syd. but you have to admit that he really did get over it. you can not compare a song like queen elvis, clean steve or the underneath with syd. he has his very own style, influenced by syd, yes, but also by bob dylan, and a whole lotta other psychedelic bands. and about 'the real thing' syd wasn't the only one that made that kind of music, he was bloody good at it yes, but lets not forget, the small faces, crazy world of arthur brown, traffic, dandelions chariot, donovan...and robyn hitchcock fits right in that list, only he still makes that kinda music. so don't pull the syd thing, the beatles started off with hair like elvis too.
