Terrible. It's awful wanky guitar store music for people whose idea of good music is judged solely by "licks", "riffs" and "solos." It's like someone decided to take Rush at their worst and marry them to cheesy 80s and 90s metal in order to make some of the most uninteresting music of all time.

I can't explain to you how much I love Dream Theater. I hated them at first...progressive metal? I'm not into metal...but these guys blow my mind. I just sit and shake my head with my jaw dropped when I hear them live.

They're one of my top favorite bands. Dream theater: a musician's wet dream. They're so talented. I hope they keep rockin out with great albums.

More like you're a guy who likes shitty nerd-metal and hasn't even mastered the English language enough to defend his point of view properly.

Scenes is my favourite too. With that album I got sucked into their music. The music there is beautifull like it is always with them, but also I like that the whole album tells one story and the songs are connected, so it looks like it is one song.

And Dream Theater are NOT boring.

I think that the singer perfectly suits the style of the music they play.
And if you think that the singing is almost the same you should look at the rest of the groups too. LaBrie is just as same in his songs as Jim Morison is in his. What I'm truing to say is that he has his own style and that does not make the singing the same.
And about the rythm, you should listen them again. You ate absoloutly wrong.

Ok, first I would like to note that I don't care how old this topic is.

When I read each and every single post on this ridiculous topic I was offended. Its just mindless flaming between closed minded YES fans that don't realize that they went to shit in the 80s' and Dream Theater lovers. Not one logical thing has been said. Okay, first point I would like to make is that unless you witnessed with your own eyes, and have proof, DT never opened for YES, and never got booed off stage.

Second....HAVE YOU PEOPLE NO FUCKING EARS, OR BRAINS FOR THAT MATTER? The music is purely amazing, I don't care if It may get repetative, John Petrucci could easily match the player from YES. Jordan Rudess also didn't win Keyboarder Magazines-Keyboarder of the Year for no reason. The band is a plethora of fantastic musicians. It sounds to me that you people haven't even heard a DT song.

There is barely any "repeating rythmn", for there is barely any rythmn to begin with. It surely is not boring, there is constant change, I have a BLAST listening to them. They are certainly not techno metal goth posers, and they are not YES ripoffs, quit contradicting yourselves.

You should get your heads out of the fucking seventies and wake up and see that Dream Theater kicks the shit out of almost every modren (if not EVERY) band currently recording music today. YES is good, but DT is good aswell, if not better.
    Get:
Octavarium-25 minute song-if you get one thats only 5-it's not it
    Change of Seasons
    Stream of Conciousness

Then I dare you to say they suck. I also respect the fact that DT is a clean band, unlike every other 70s band that ever existed where every member was at one point in their life, addicted to fucking heroin.

....and wasn't it YES that made..owner of a lonely heart (LMFAO)
