lol, to me, 'the natives' conjoures up an image of men in those white 'let me take over India old chap' suits, sipping a sundownder before they go off to shoot the lions. You know, the sterotypical colonialist who woud like call a mosquito a 'damned blighter' and be all superior to 'the natives' who they treat as they would a small child.

whereas indigenous seems more, academic maybe? like you could imagine an essay on the indigenous peoples of Australasia.
