Are there any other Bluegrass fans here? I am excited because I get to go see Rhonda Vincent! I've seen AKUS but this is a first for Rhonda & The Rage.
bluegrass is fuckin awesome.... YMSB, HBRSB, Earl Skruggs, Old And In The Way, Ricky Skaggs, Doc and Merle Watson, OCMS
i've said it 1,000 times but i'll say it again bluegrass + bare feet + mud = heaven! and one of my favorite shirts of all times is "sex, drugs and flatt & scruggs"
We need more bluegrass discussion... so I'm bumping this..... Oh and you can't talk about bluegrass without mentioning Ralph Stanley and Bill Monroe.

oh man, friend from cali recently introduced me to some good Bluegrass tunes...and i now gots half a dozen new bands to look up from this thread....keep 'em coming folks, Oz gots some musical catch-up to get to
There is so much good Bluegrass out there. Couple of favorites of mine. The Dell McCrory band and Union Station. I love watching Del McCrory, they use the old fashioned 1 microphane and trade off singing and instrument leads.
I love bluegrass. But what I really love is Old-Time, the traditional music that predates bluegrass. I'm also a flatfoot dancer. Strictly speaking, the term "bluegrass" started with Bill Monroe, since his group was called "The Blue Grass Boys". Nowadays, some people refer to all traditional fiddle and banjo music as "bluegrass," but there is a difference.
I love it i have seen Ralph Stanley and his son and any number of small groups. I have wathched the small groups of older guys from the hills play. Its amazing the soul most of them have with their voices and their instruments. Its always a great concert when its bluegrass and I was once at one that lasted 8 hours and Ralph Stanley played for two.
I guess one of my current favorites would be the Roan Mountain Hilltoppers. I've seen 'em several times at the Bluff Mountain Music Festival in Hot Springs, NC, and danced to their great music. They're not really "bluegrass." They're old-time. I just love that kind of music. Here is something about them: http://www.ivycreek.com/theroanmountainhilltoppers.html
