what is a hippy?

ok people i dont know if this has been started before but i will ask this question to both the uk and us forums to see what people come up with.
Please tell me what are the philosophys,lifestyles,feelings,notions,ideas,and everything relating to you that make you a hippy.
I am asking out of interest and to educate myself and to discover if this community offers original thought.
