Does anyone like thiis current band? I have their album from 2004, their first album "The Darkness". They are a 70's sounding band, they have a mixture of 70's styles. I like them, since I like current music that has a heavy 70's influence.

They have some influences you'd never expect to come together, and sound really fucking weird, at times like a subpar Guns 'n' Roses clone meets a subpar Oasis clone.

    I personally can't stand them.

They are a gimmick basically, the clothes, everything. It tries to re-create 70's in the modern day, it isn't gonna work other than some comedy act.

And musically... not really good at all in my opinion.

I thought they were made to "be" an 80's hair band.

^Basically Queen esque- 70's or 80's I guess. And that's the thing - they tried to tell everyone they were trying to do their own thing and be serious, but in Spandex in 2004 just looks like a joke.

No, more of a 70's glam rock style band.

They ain't very original. But for this day and age they caused a buzz. I like I believe in a thing called love, but it is hard to take them serious. More of a drunk party happy band for me, like Slade or something.

They have some sort of similarity with Uriah Heep in the scream-singing style, but in a more upbeat way. Uriah Heep are more depressing music. Uriah Heep is much better. I love that The Darkness were created. They give 70's dudes like me props.

Ya they're mostly a novelty kitsch band, trying to revive the whole 70's glam rock scene.

I''m like them, that's why I love that they were created. When I wear bell-bottoms and everything of my style is 70's it is also a laugh for me. I am laughing at fashion and conformity. I can dress however I want, and I want to dress in the style of the 70's.

I love the Darkness, they're awesome. I got their album last year and it's got some really good songs on it. Of course they're often written off as gimmicky and a staged '70s band but theres more to them than that. Anyway, love them.
