Sup people. Well its been about a week since my plants have been put into the soil. I was just confused on the sexing. When the male plants give off shit to the female plant. I am lost for words <--, but when does this occur, and how can I tell the difference between a male and female. What do I do with the male once it has given off its shits, and how do I know when this happens. Thanks -Ohh
Ok well if your plant is only a week old then you wont be worrying about sexing for a while. The plant will only go 'male or female' once it has started flowing which is usual during the Autum, unless your growing inside when it's whenever you turn the light cycle to 12/12. Once the male pollen sacks form then you have about 2 weeks to get rid of them before they pollenate the female plants. If you want sinsemelia (no seeds) then you will want to pull out all the male plants or they will 'shag' your female plants and instead of having a shit load of resin you will get seeds. Male flowers (pollen sacks) form earlier and are usualy quite rounded whereas the female flowers are buds (what you smoke). If you only get a Female to Male ratio of say 1:4 then you may want to keep the males because otherwise you will loose alot of the crop. Pollenated bud isn't all bad but sensi weed is better. Once the male has pollenated the females it doesn't die or anything, you can still grow it but your females will be preggers and give birth to seeds.
I am outdoor growing, but if it has those pistils then its female, correct? I know I won't see flowering till few weeks, but your saying if I keep the males their, then the females will produce a bunch of seeds. How will I know when to take the males out? Thanks for the info so far bro. -Ohh
Check the whether channel.com. When the days drop below 12 hours from sun-up to sun-down, it will take 2 or 3 weeks for the plants to start to Flower. The farther north you are, the sooner that will happen.
Heres pics ,the first two are male the second two female. The males usually flower at 2-3 months- females like geck said ,by photoperiod (light hours)
Ohh, when the male looks like the one i the second picture it's safe to say time to get rid of it that one is about ready to begin dispersing pollen.
hey man, if you are planning on harvesting pure sensemilla than i would recommend getting rid of males at the very first detection, although there will be less plants to harvest. but pure sensemilla is soo wotht it and besides, with fewer remaining plants to look after, your efforts can be centrallized and you can use every method at your disposal to properly get a good yield.
