Let me get this straight .. it's a felony in the states to not sign a piece of paper? Why bother making you sign it at all? Why not just put you on the list then. Isn't signing it getting your consent? What does your consent matter if it's by force. Jeezus. Such fascists. Where's your American freedom?
signing a contract under duress renders it invalid, so if it really is a felony not to sign it (so too lazy to look it up right now) makes it invalid, so theorhetically if a draft were instituted you could fight it, granted you'd be a felon, so it'd be best to mass fight it in absension, but you could still probably fight it......
Tell me about it! FTR, Draft registration was reinstated in 1980 by then President Jimmy Carter and continues today. Under the law passed back then, all men aged 18 to 26 were elidgible for the draft should one emerge, but only those born 1960 or thereafter were required to register. In the beginning, all males born in 1960 and 1961 were required to register with those born in 1962 required to register shortly thereafter. There were no student deferrments. Those aged twenty would be the first to be drafted, followed by those aged 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 19 and 18 years of age.
So if you think a law is evil, you should follow it anyways, until it's not the law anymore? I disagree. Check out Throeau's "Civil Disobedience," he makes a strong case for this. I can almost think that a politician who refused to compromise his morals would be respected...at least, it would in a world without the modern media....
