i was gonna take a pic of our baby goat widget last evenin n then i decided it was a bit gory n disgusting to post on this forum,,, although maybe seeing the mess she was in before we had to shoot her would have possibly drilled a message into some of your thick skulls....... ya see when we got our last batch of four baby goats it was already too late to dehorn them with the least painful method there is ,,, so we let them grow,,,, last evening we went out to feed the gang of them and there stood baby widget with her innards protruding out the side of her stomach.... done by the horn of another critter in the pen with her... probably not on prupose but in play and it must have caught her skin enough to rip it on through so that most all her lil guts could come on out...., not a pretty sight to see one of your favorite babies like that.... although she was a very good patient and i looked her over seeing if we could call a vet in and sew her back up..... after her check up i decided that it was a futile effort since it was obvious internally she had ruptures as well and was bleeding ,,, all i could do was try and comfort her and send her energy that all was ok and then we put a bullet in her to end her suffering,,,,, so for all you ppl that think it is cruel to dehorn animals think about what the repurcussions may one day be,,, not just to other animals but to yourself or other people,,,, ,,, we dont do it to be cruel we do it for their own safety as well... it was a senseless stupid reason for a critter to have to die,,,,
I'm sorry to hear about Widget, Dilli...I have to say I don't know much about the de-horning issue, and I'm not a PETA member, but I can certainly see your point. It would have hurt me to see her in so much pain, and so badly injured. I know you and Hillbilly take good care of your critters; at least as far as I'm concerned, you don't have to explain anything to me! Take care up there in the ole' kudzu patch!!
You might be upset about your goat but if you show humans a bit of respect too they might actually listen to you. I'm not a member of PETA, but I do know if I was I would not be inclined to take kindly to some one calling me a "freak" and telling me a have a thick skull.
i don't see why she would've had to make a nursery rhyme about her deceased goat just to not offend some people.. back when we had goats a couple years ago, we de-horned them. if youre going to have them in a cage at night where you can't watch them, its stupid not to. I'm really really sorry about your loss, you have my deepest sympathies.
gory n gruesome,,, roflmao,,, that would have been gory n gross had i actually taken the picture of it.... but i opted not too.. and as far as the night cage thing,,, lol they have a acre n half pasture for seven goats,,,, wouldnt exactly call it a cage although yes i dont stay up n watch them all night.... then again this happened during the day too so therefore the cage at night thing went out the window as well.. of course could always just take their six foot night cage down and let the coyotes eat them,,,, i spose that would be the best way to make a quick demise of all of them quite rapidly,,,,.... n the freak comment ms aussie,,,, yes there are way too many PETA minded folks that are just freaks cuz they dont know when there is an actual difference between caring for something, common sense and cruelty,,,
aw, the poor goat. our neighbors kept pet goats, just a few. one of the babies was always trying to make a home in my laundry room and get me to carry her. it would be so sad to see her killed. they kept their goats dehorned, too.
nope there wasnt ,,, but was an eighth of my herd an eighth of what we are plannin on using as an alternative income ,,, to keep backin outta babble on n then to know that it coulda n shoulda been prevented n cuz it is sumthing i adamantly believe in,,,,, justs well,,,, gets me goat ya know....
