I know this is a really weird question but can mono be carried through sperm? My boyfriend's sister came home from college with it a month ago and didn't find out until now she had mono. My boyfriend then caught it and just started showing symptoms a week ago... now I'm wondering if I could possibly get it because we've had sex since hes been sick. Its easy to catch by kissing someone, but since he was sick (we thought it was something else at first) we didn't kiss. ahhh...
would you be able to get tested for it before you start showing symptoms? maybe if you start getting the meds for it early, you won't be as bad off? either way, good luck and i wish you the best of health.
there are no meds for mono... which sucks. I figured like you said steffan, it would be but I was hoping not! He thought it was a cold and that I thought was no big deal. *sigh* well my next month or two should be real pleasant.
every human being has some mono in ther genes.. in some cases it will appear in anothr cases it will not.. so in yer boyfriends case as I understan it appeared couse he was kinda having sex with the other one who was ill.. anyway .. it can appear to your lips (face area) or sex organs.. and by the way in some cases (usually goes to lips) apperas as the person has got cold.. so there will be no fever, just mono on yer lips.. What I don't get is, how did yer boyfriend get it fromn his sister? About the mono - IT WILL SURE infect body liquids.. so no doubt as he has it in his sex organs area, you might have it too.. go and concultate yer doctor and see what they will tell you. if there is still no preparations (that might make it less or dissapear) you just have to be careful. And to be honest, if you (with mono) will give birth, your child will have mono in hidden way as well.. Wish you good luck, and relax, most of us have it..
Hmm...i took meds for mono...it was a steroid and i think something else...was a long azz time ago. It cut the time down to 2 weeks.
when you live in close quarters with people(which we do every weekend) you can catch it easily. All you need to do is drink out of the same cup... Around the time we probably got it those two drank and being drunk I'm sure they ended up switching beers at some point... another point is we all eat off the same dinnerware... We all touch stuff around the house... Mono is easier to catch being intimate and close with someone but it is not the only way.
it's a simple blood test to see if you have it or not.... I thought I did but I was just exhausted and feverish for no reason, what fun. but it's easy to catch. My mom got some meds for it too, but it might've just been like multivitamins or something for the depression she got along with it
It might be easy to catch, but have never seen any case, whoucould have it FROM sharing cups, bottles and so on. MOst of the things come still from kissing, as the lips are connected more than for 3 seconds.. I guess the main thing over here is that as you are kissing you just don't notice it on the next time, just maby weeks or months after. So It is kinda hard to say when did you get it exactly. And as I pointed out before, we all have it, because mono is going to yer children through geenes. So I don't get it right now why yer saying me that IT MUST HAVE BEEN LIKE THIS.. It DOESN't have to BE LIKE YOU THINK at all, couse I told you the point before.. (seems to me that you are way too stubborn and you are looking here the answers you allready know)..
all I asked for was an opinion on if viruses can be spread through semen. I know what mono is. I read plenty on the topic. I never found anything that said it was spread through anything other than mucus, tears or saliva. Sperm is from a different area of your body. Hence the question. I didn't ask for other information. You assumed that. Your not born with a "mono gene". It comes from a virus called Epstein-Barr. Everyone has it but it is not something your born with and it becomes active most for people ages 15-24. "EBV lives and grows in your nose and throat. Any fluid that comes from these parts of the body, including saliva, tears, or mucus, can be infected with the virus. The virus (EBV) is spread when people come in contact with infected fluids" "The Epstein-Barr virus infects almost everyone by the age of 40 and usually does not cause any illness. However, it can cause mononucleosis (mono) and is associated with some types of cancer, such as Burkitt's lymphoma and cancers of the mouth. The virus lives in a person's salivary glands and can be spread through saliva, such as by kissing or sharing drinking glasses or eating utensils." I don't understand why my having a guess as to when we caught it is stubborn. We haven't seen her in a month, shes been stuck at her college in another state (car problems). Obviously if half our friends and almost everyone who drank at that party caught mono recently a live strain of it was around then(have you never been to a party and not shared a beer or cigarette with your friends/family?)
heheh ok then, sorry for being stupid.. tho it is the same with tobacco ya know.. anyway i assume it will go through sperms as well... but hei, I don't care, try to survive with this mono!
Well o.k. But since you guys are all talking 'bout it, I thought maybe one of you might tell me. But thanks for stating the obvious.
