I know a program but I wouldn't exactly call it simple, but if you find nothing else and are still interested let me know
Need more details man. Transfer the file to where? Another machine? IF both have usb ports, get urself a ram stick. You can get a 256MB stick for about $12 US at many Walgreens Drug Store.
Transfer from one person to another, but email and IMs have a stupid 10mb limit. :$ Tried things like dropload.com, but for some reason they won't work.. And I can't really figure it out cause I'm not the one sending the file..
I'm not knowledgable in ICQ, but isn't there some way to share files on that? That's the fastest way I know of on a TRUE p2p transfer if Yahoo has that limit.
I may try that, I had considered it, but I haven't used ICQ in ages, and I'm on linux so I'm using gaim rather than the actual client.. IRC had occured to me, but that's too complicated, especially due to firewall problems and such.. ..
split the file into 10 one mb pieces using winrar or winzip and mail wach part to your pal... they can easily rejoin it upon receipt
It's going win -> linux, so most splitting possibilities I know of are out of the question.. And sites like dropload and such have for some reason not worked with this particular file, nor has compressing it, or sending it via ICQ, for some reason there is a problem with it being recognized, but I don't see why that even matters just to send it, but we even tried changing it to txt to send if that might makje a difference, but alas I give up.
Soulless Chaos: I have a private web server with no maximum file size limit. Send me a PM. Uploading to the server is semi-technical, but I can tell your friend the exact commands to do it, and then I can tell you where you can download it from. =) It doesn't take long. I can run the full set of commands in 20 seconds (not rushing). Then again, I know what they all are by heart. Your friend could do it in under 2 minutes.
I've given up, I think there is just something wrong with the file itself, because it won't work with winzip, or any online transfer sites, or ICQ or anything... Other files worked fine.
if you use mirc you could send it no matter the size. go to http://www.mirc.com/get.html & read the directions. The only thing about it is that both you & the party you are trying to send something to must have mirc installed.
Dropload.com is the same sort of thing, but apoparently there was some mystery problem with only that one single file, because everything else worked fine, just not that, and yet I was told the file itself worked fine.. Oh well, screw it. Thanks for all the help though anyway.
