Every 6 months or so [this September 24th, for example], we have a large national anti-war protest. I feel as if these infrequent protests are just us waving our hands in the air and saying "Hey America, we're still here, we still don't like the war, by the way. Ok, now you can go back to your regularly scheduled ignorance and denial." How can we expect to get anything done if we're just a slight nuisence twice a year? During Vietnam, the anti-war folks took to the streets all over the country daily. They made it so they could NOT be ignored. Why are we not? Sure, most of us work or are in school, lead busy lives...whatever. We don't have to protest 24/7, but people work different hours. Essential shifts of protesting, keeping it going at all times, whether it's 5 people or 50000 people will keep us noticed and make us effective. If you agree with me even slightly, organize a daily demonstration in your area it could start off small. Advertise. Recruit. Make it continue and grow. I feel that we are currently politely requesting that our government stop the war. We're not asking for a favor, we are demanding an immeidate end to the waste of lives and resources, to the senseless murders, to this unjust war. And our demands need to be heard, not passively voiced. Also, if anyone's in the NYC area and wants to join or organize something, hit me up.
