So the shoes I have now are dying fast, and I need new ones. I'm really trying to shy away from unnecessarily buying things, so I was hoping I could figure out how to make some. Anyone got any advice on that, or websites it could check out or anything? Thanks alot folks. -Adam
more info needed.... what type of shoes are you wanting? For example, running shoes? sandals? cowboy boots? glorified slippers?
I generally wear skate/tennis shoes. Basically anything that is closed toe/closed heel...walkable shoes. My job entails walking around outside daily in New York City for 4-6 hours, so anything that could withstand that.
look up "shoes AND Medieval" and you'll find a bunch of SCAdian web sites with patterns for medieval shoe and boot patterns. any pattern based off the duct taped sock will be custom fitted. the more generic sole shape and a few side panels will be adjustable. start here: http://www.armlann.com/shoesandpattens.htm SCAdians are basically nuts, but they do get the craft reseach , as in methods, down well. http://www.shireofhartstone.org/documents/stonies/articles/shodashire.html http://scatoday.net/node/view/2361 http://www.markland.org/shoes.php http://www.personal.utulsa.edu/~marc-carlson/carl20.html
... a friend printed me a knitting pattern for mukluks, they look nice but I'd likely never wear them.
