Can anyone give me some back ground on rock stacking? I just moved close to a river in Montana, lots of great rocks to be found, and started doing it.
I think it gained noteriaty in SoCal around 1990(?). There was a guy who started doing it at the beach. I remember he came to our school.
here is a link to a site that has pics of "rock stacks": http://www.teamsandtastic.com/RockStacking/ and here are some pics of the Native/Inuit rock monuments that I mentioned: http://www.rock-on-rock-on.com/inuit.html

It's my first large scale project and I have it feeling it won't be my last, working with stone is addictive.
Rock stackings are so cool and trippy. My boyfriends dad has a bunch of them in his yard. Hes obsessed with rocks. They are really neat though. And hes also got about a million small smooth stones you find on the beach and he makes things out of those too. Hes crazy but in a good way. But I have no info about them! Just wanted to share that
