Driving while high... is it safe?

Very shortly, my friends and I are about to leave from our home in Southern Illinois and take a road trip to Texas for the weekend. We have some green and want to smoke it and enjoy the 10 hour ride better.

I've smoked and drove before, but this is gonna be a pretty long trip. I am curious as to how safe drivers are supposed to be when they are stoned.

As I am going to be leaving very shortly, I'd appreciate anyone's comments on what they think about driving and smoking.

 

I've been completely baked everytime I drove from AL to TX or TX to AL, about a 7-9 hour drive, makes it much more tolerable. And at least on that trip it's a straight shot on I-10.. Interstate driving is like the easiest ever, just cruise.

 

Ive never actually driven high... (since i just started driving)... but I ride with people ALLLLL the time that are driving high.... If anything, they are sometimes better driving (some of them) because of paranoia (making sure you dont screw up while driving high)... I wouldnt reccomend getting stoned off your ass and driving, but a nice toke would be just fine

 

But if you get stopped (which can be just a random stop, as happened to my brother) you can get done for "driving under the influence" even though it doesn't affect you're driving.

 

i wouldnt exactly say people drive safer while high
maybe more defensively, but not safer

and i dont think id want to go on a long road trip high. why not just wait till yer there?

 

anyone who thinks it "enhances" or improves their driving is a moron..

it's all about knowing yourself, i know i am a very good driver, so i know my limit and i know that i could smoke a hell of alot of weed and still drive fine.

if u are unsure of yourself and get behind the wheel, god save us all

 

well, the few times i've driven high were pretty much jsut around my neighborhood. i've only been on the interstate 3 times while high, but the time on the interstate was only about a half hour or so, nothing to long. but if i did smoke, and i'm on the interstate, i'll just put it on cruise control, so i wont' hve to worry about speeding....

 

driving when you feel high or drunk is just fucking stupied i will not longer ride with epople who are high and drunk and driving because of stuff thats happend even tonight im drunk and high as hell right now my friend made sure he was sober when he droped me off and i thank him for it cause i knew if he wasnt thing wouldnt have gone so good

 

pick up a hooker. AHAHAHHHHHHH THAT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS> heehee

 

ahaha... I got pulled over when I was baked, one time. Cop didn't notice.

 

we used to go out on the back country roads and fishbowl a tiny geo metro with five motherfuckers in it and four joints going at once. thats the most smoked out ive ever been

 

heres how it is: your less able to quickly find a driving solution when stoned. so, if its somewhere without kmany cars, somewhere perhaps that your familiar driving on, or somewhere where simply the traffic goes to plan, then your fine if your stoned. the problem is when you come up to a problem you werent expecting, such as missing an exit, or some other dickhead on the road doing something you werent expecting, or simply forgetting to change lane or something and then trying to quickly fix yourself up, that sorta thing is where driving stoned is less safe than driving sober.
but driving under any state, even sober, is dangerous, so its more a matter of what is more or less dangerous

anyway thats at least what we established here on the forum i believe
