So I'm listening to some of the music from Donnie Darko (again) and I just adore it. Same with heaps of other movie music i(don't mean like the songs on the soundtrack as such - they can be awesome, yes, but i mean like the original scores from different films) Does anyone else out there have a thing for movie themes? Personally, i like the beautiful/haunting/pretty/daydreamy/and so on ones, but all types can be good if you are in the mood. So yeah, here's a few i think are just terrific - Michael Andrews' Donnie Darko themes - liquid spear waltz, rosie darko, cellar door etc..so beautiful. I also love Jon Brion's stuff, the main theme from Eternal Sunshine is fantastic, and the I Heart Huckabees music is great, Phillip Glass does some pretty cool stuff too - the Hours, Undertow. And if i'm feeling in the right mood, the music from Requiem For A Dream, like Clint Mansell's Summer Overture, is simply amazing. It gives me chills every time I hear it. anyone else a fan of these (or other) scores?
I was just listening to the score from Shaft by Isaac Hayes. The Four Tops also do a couple songs from Shaft.
I love to listen to soundtracks from old spaghetti westerns sometimes, of course it helps if you love the atmosphere from the movies.
I like howard shore. He did a great job on the aviator. john ottman did a nice score for the house of wax. I also liked mark ishaam and his crash score.
