your reality may be my fantasy...and vicee versee.. Reality is relative. Things are definatly not as they seem.
depends on what you mean by reality if you mean trees and air and birds then they are "real" solid, matter, material, they are energy so they exist as for ideas? money, laws, property, all beliefs, perceptions of course there are ideas that are real, math and things like that but whenever someone says "it's the real world" it probably isn't.....
How would you know they existed if you couldn't see/hear/touch/smell/taste them? If you had no ability to 'know' them how could they exist. Remember that perception is a strictly human thing with a strictly human definition.
there are insensates in the world, I still exist...... if I do not have data on a subject that does not mean it does not exist, the reason existentialism so serves so many is the sheer arrogance of the philosophy....... empathy disproves it real fast, especially true empathy
The fact that there are people who do not know you exist only serves my point. If you do not know that 2+2=4 then you do not know it. It has more to do with knowledge 'of' a thing than it does with the thing itself, simply because 'a thing itself' is only what it is because someone 'realizes' it. The word realize, by definition, shows us that much. existentialism isn't arrogant. Existentialism tells us that we make up shit because there is nothing else except our thoughts that 'realize'. And empathy doesn't disprove existentialism. Marleau-Ponty would have come up with that. And he didn't.
reality slaps you in face when you dont wake up in the morning and you dont have money to pay bills. thats when you realize that no amount of wishful thinking is gonna put food in your stomach.
yeah, good and all except what I was trying to say is that that post was a diversion. You were not answering the questions but turning to others for some reason or another. (I'm kind enough not to mention the reasons, but you and I both know them) oh yeah, hows my personality coming along in your books?
