In Australia, there is currently an advertising campaign for baby wipes. in this ad, basically all that is shown is babies and toddlers, who are completely naked. I think this is totally wrong. For a start, in other ads, news, even funniest home videos, they blur out grown adults who are naked, or exposing parts of their body that shouldnt be seen, and there they are on this ad, showing babies who are totally naked, no blurring or censoring involved. Adults can choose whether or not they want to expose their asses, whereas babies cant, their parents choose, and mainly its to make a quick buck. I also think its wrong because, well, quite bluntly, any paedophile could be getting a cheap thrill out of it, and that thought alone is sickening. I just wanted to know anyone elses thought on this, because i think its totally outragous and wrong.
Heh, chill out... I don't see why it should be wrong... it's just babies. Though personally I scoff at society's general puritanical repulsion to adult nudity as well. It's just the human body. Well gee, I mean, that could go for just about anything if you let your mind wander enough... What about commercials for dog chow? Should we be concerned about people who are into bestiality getting a thrill out of it? I mean, hell for all I know there could be people out there that get off on vacuum cleaners, but I'm not really gonna fret myself about it if I see a vacuum cleaner commercial. Just don't think about it too much. Unless the commercial explicitly implies paedophilia or whatever, it shouldn't be an issue.
THere just babies, and there is nothing to be ashamed of. Most people who are watching the commercials are familes who have kids, and see their babies naked...And just because some minute minority of weirdos is going to get a 30 sec flash of happy babies playing isnt going to do much. It was a baby wipes commercial! They probably have access to internet, and get everything they need. I would understand if it was adults naked, but come on its babies. They are wonderful unsexual beings of light.
Dude bunny we have the same thing here in the states. Its really weird to just be sitting around watching some TV and just see some naked baby. What really gets to me is when they use naked babies for advertisments that have nothing to do with babies, or mothers or anything. I saw this commercial the other day advertising an electric company with a bunch of naked babies, and i was thinking... are.. are they advertising to pedophiles?
You two are being real prigs... it's a baby. I seriously doubt marketing groups are out there aiming to snare the paedophile market. Read what I said above, and lighten up. Nudity doesn't have to entail sex, especially if it's an infant! I personally think it's silly enough that people get jumpy over nude adults, but this is a baby we're talking about. They're just cute, that's all.
Heh, my bad then, it was hard to tell as a joke, I thought you were for real. A "prig" anyway basically is like a prude, a straight-laced moralist. My apologies anyhoo.
Pedophiles is an important demographic, as there are more and more pedophiles watching TV these days. Last year, 2% of viewers were pedophiles. This year, 4.5 are. Thaqt's a huge leap in just one year, and I don't blame advertisers for wanting a piece of that pie. That soft, hair-less, virgin pie.
im not personally offended by this phenomenon, but i see what you mean. it is a really weird occurance. i never thought about the paedophile creeps though. you have a good point about that. i just dont know what to think about this. i never thought of it as being wrong because its always occured, but now that im actually noticing it-its a little weird.
