i have had two roosters and seven hens for about 6 months and recently the less-dominant of the two roosters has become aggresive towards humans... pecking and the like... will draw blood i think part of the problem might be that the other rooster chases him quite a bit and so is letting out this aggression on humans even though we were like his only buddies. his name, btw is "buddy" and the bigger rooster is called "bulldog"
Roosters grill up just almost as well as hens, some bbq sauce and such might just be the best way out.
Hi Molly, sorry to hear about your cock problems! Yes it appears one cock is dominating another (no doubt it's bigger!). The smaller pecker is probably feeling a bit insecure due to his small size and needs to vent his frustrations somewhere. Since the small cock can't beat off the big cock, he's found a substitute cock to beat among humans. There's no easy solution to this cock problem, that's probably why most people have just one cock instead of two! Perhaps you'd be wise to consider the option of having just one cock as having two cocks at once can cause problems and the hens suffer from lack of attention when neither cock comes. We all know hens need to have a cock around to stimulate them, even if it doesn't come that often. Otherwise they won't feel like laying either. Some people think a big cock is nice to have around, especially when it wakes you up in the morning. But with two cocks, the crowing gets more intense as each pecker tries to outdo the other. Eventually there is a cock fight and while the hens might be amused to watch this dramatic event, it usually results in one cock getting pretty screwed. I hope you find a good answer to your problem, if not I suggest you just eat cock!
eh, pretty common - we had a mean ol bird named stringbean, my brother & i had to take care of the chickens every mornin and one of us always collected the eggs, fed & watered them while the other kept stringbean back with a stick. i still have a bad attitude about chickens... lol!!! he was one farm animal i was happy to eat
Of course some might say, it's the hens fault for being so picky about which cock services them. If they paid more attention to the small pecker, perhaps he'd be less frustrated, and more likely to overcome his handicap. Most hens can deal with a small pecker without too much difficulty, even if the little cock's not their first choice. But it's that emphasis on big cocks that makes all cocks so aggressive, especially one cock towards another. They can never leave each other in peace and cock fights are inevitable.
as per your interests, chicken sex is pretty far out. the rooster jumps on the chickens back (without any introductory notices) and the chicken's first reaction is to get the rooster off and so the rooster bites down on the chicken's neck, kinda like a cowboy riding a bucking bronco after a few seconds of what we can assume is pleasure for both parties concerned, the rooster steps forward walking over the chicken's head as it departs. i tried chicken sex with my wife and the only part she doesn't like is getting the head stepped on as i depart on my merry way .............. thanks skip and everyone for the advice
"i tried chicken sex with my wife" "after a few seconds of what we can assume is pleasure for both parties concerned" Um, no offense, but does your wife have feathers?
