I (guess the name that belongs here) am crossing the street and some caring soul shouts a warning "Hey, watch out!" but I turn and declare "I think I can handle crossing the street on my own" and while I delay and argue, I am hit by the speeding dump truck that some caring soul tried to warn me of... what am I?
not paying attention to the road? blind to traffic patterns? not terribly bright? the latest winner of the Darwin Award?
The list grows. As it must. When the list becomes sufficiently populated, guessing the name will be easy.
Who are you if you are a guy who has been promising the coming of the dump truck for two thousand years, yet its never come?
Because there is no real dump truck. It's all in your head, along with all the trash in the dump truck.
you can be surrounded by friends but none of them sees you the way the Lord does. They are by your side here and there, and friends are great! but the Lord is INSIDE, always with you, will never leave or forsake you.
I would have to go with the Darwin Award - but I have a terrible suspicion that their is a political point in the works
wait...I think your right hippypaul...let's see...you don't listen to someone who is trying to warn you...but this is a christan forum. I'm voting on.... Your a guy that wasn't listening to the warning that God sent to you...therefor you die. So the morale of this story is "If you have full faith in God and listen to His every word the worst in life will be overcame" or something along those lines.
People may FEEL forsaken by GOd, but we are more than flesh. God promises not to forsake US, arent we more than a body made of flesh and blood?
Maybe people have different ideas as to what is considered being forsaken. Some people think not being forsaken means never going hungry, always having a roof over your head, etc. Sorry to say, that's not always what it means. Just because things don't go the way you want them to doesn't mean that you are forsaken. I've been through some tough crap in life that many people would consider me being "forsaken", but I never felt that way. I see a deeper meaning, and I knew that I was not forsaken, no matter what I was going through. God was aware of what I was going through and he knew I could handle it. He didn't forget about me. He had a greater plan in mind that in retrospect, I now understand, although I didn't at the time. It wasn't pleasant, it wasn't pretty, and it wasn't fair, but I still knew that God did not forget about me, he was there to help me through it. Being forsaken doesn't mean God makes everything be ok. It means he'll help you through it, and it's never in vain.
I know exactly what you mean though Bree, you always felt like GOd had a purpose, and that through it all He was taking care of you, and that He has never forsaken you even though you've been through so much. I Always look at the deeper meaning and if I cant recognize it, i still trust that it is there! God is a character builder. We are like gold being refined in fire. How can we be refined if we dont go through crap? How can we be victorious without opposition?
