Since I work in a small office, I'm the default PC guy. I'm reformatting a Dell laptop (running Windows 98 SE) for a new employee to use. I gathered all the documentation and discs and did the system recovery, but when the screen came up for me to enter the Windows Product Key, I realized I didn't have it (d'oh!). So I ordered a full version of Windows 98 SE off of eBay (from a seller with many reviews and a near 100% positive rating). That disc came with a code, I tried entering it, and it didn't work. So my only other option seems to be to reinstall Windows 98 using the disc and code I got off of eBay. However, I can't get the system to boot from the Windows 98 installation disc. I've changed the boot order, but it still goes to the aforementioned "Enter Product Key" screen. Any ideas? Thanks, Jeremy --- Wednesday, 14 September: I found the solution: EZ OS Install. Worked like a charm and saved my ass.
the win98 cd isn't a bootable cd...you'll need the 98 startup floppy to format and install 98 from the cd...98 boot disks can be downloaded from lot's of places....google "download 98 boot disk" don't forget to set your bios back to boot from the floppy drive as the 1st priority
