was great today... i just spent time in the religious section when my sister was doing research...i found some cool books... i found one on Orthodoxy, and it was like a no filler, easy to understand explanation of everythign [with scriptural back up]...somehting interesting i found by just flipping through was about Mary, the Ever-Virgin...according to thier interpretation of some OT scriptures, the one about God closing the gate to all men [its a prophecy], they see it as refering to Mary, and that she never had sexual relations...and in response to the "jesus calling people brother" argument, they showed scripture from when Moses [or somesuch] called people brother, even theough they we nefews [i know i spelled that wrong ] i couldnt get it out though cause my card is expired, but it was stil cool i saw some other cool ones, but that one stuck out, mainly cause im interested in orthodoxy [but i just cant stand the idols] anywho, this post has no nutritional value...you may proceed
i wish i would have library with good religious books. i stopped being a member of the local library since i have read most of the books, and the rest doesn't interest me very much. but i love good books about religion. the last one i read was 'walking on water' by a dutch pastor. really good book about the hidden meaning of biblical stories and miracles jesus performed. :/ my shift doesn't work so i can't type any capitals
Well, firstly, can't you just renew your card when you go to check out? See, our library cards are permanant and work for all area libraries (which also trade books, so I can "order" a book from another library and pick it up at my local one). But I remember before they started letting one card work for them all, I just got a new card at the library I was at and then checked out my book. Secondly, there's a part in the bible where someone is calling Jesus out, saying that his mother and brothers were waiting outside. In that context, it's clear he doesn't mean it metaphorically but that his mom and siblings are outside. Maybe Joseph had another wife though. It really doesn't matter much anyways, in my mind. Like, would it matter to me if Siddhartha had brothers and sisters? But then, I think I've made it clear that I don't care for dogma, and the fact that this religion is so reliant on making sure propheseys come true and making Mary a virgin always and all the other trivial stuff just really turns me off.
here it's really expensive, unless you're under eighteen or in college...so i'll have to wait one year. poor me.
