yea i no its everywhere...i went canoeing a couple days ago the water was shallow and you could see all sorts of trash at the bottom...soda cans, cups, over 20 tires...no one cares about it
I posted a large sign on a tree in my front yard that stated "Our yard is not a trash can" in response to our neighbors frequent parties and the many beer cans and trash that had found their way into our ivey. Suprisingly they apologized, reaffirming my beleif that humanity does retain a shred of decency. I agree with you. Something should be done.
i don't know about other states, but i know here in california they've started running these great ads on the tv and radio. the ads start off with two guys knocking on someones door then dumping a bag of trash on their floor. of course the person gets all mad. "why'd you just trash my home??" and the two guys ask, "sir, is california your home?" he says, "well yes" and the two guys say, " well we saw you throw this paper cup from your car window onto the freeway. why would you throw garbage out your window like that if california is your home?" makes ya think
I agree...there is a beautiful green place just outside the library that I frequent that just gets trashed with soda cans, beer bottles, etc..it apparently is a party spot after library hours...makes me mad...such significant green space is rare in this city, and the people trash it with junk...I agree, something needs to be done...
I totally agree. The laws on butts are so outdated. I wish people were allowed to show their butts in public. I've always wanted to go around in a loincloth but I was told I couldn't due to it showing my butt. That really sucked.
I see people throw their McDonalds bags and cups right out their car window. It's normal to them. All those people who litter the parks have enough strength to carry in all those beer bottles when they are full but claim it's too heavy to take away when they're empty. I go barefooted everywhere so I tend to notice all the litter on streets and in parks. It doesn't take that much effort for people to just throw the stuff away when they get home. It's nothing but an attitude problem and laziness. .
Just to give you an idea of how lazy people can be, a friend of mine at college finished his dinner in the cafeteria and left his junk on the table. I asked him why he didn't throw it in the garbage can which was right next to him. He said, "Oh, that's someone else's responsibility." Every table in that room was cluttered with junk from students too lazy to just extend their arm and put the stuff in the trash can. Hundreds or thousands of people a day go through that cafeteria, and yet some cocky students actually believe that it's possible to hire enough people to throw all their garbage away for them all the time. I can tell which students come from wealthy households and have other people taking care of all their responsibilities. .
I too am sick of seeing trash on the grass and soft drink cups from fast food joints covering the flowers and the branches of trees...but I think that butts are a really big problem because there are some that aren't put out and they land next to plants and start fires...we must put a stop to this!
I think that littering is a powerful reminder of how wasteful our society can be. For every piece of litter you come across there is a hundred pieces of trash that has been properly disposed of. But that trash doesn't just disappear it just goes somewhere else. Littering is a way that we see our waste and realize how bad an idea plastic in everything has become. My two cents anyways.
