I've wondered about this drug for awhile, hearing conflicting reports on intensity. I've resolved to try it myself once and for all, but want to hear what the regulars of hipforums have to say about it first. Is it as crazy as some say? Or as overrated as some say?
Absinthe can legally be imported into the US. I just ordered two 70 cl. bottles of La Fee' Parisian Absinthe, they should be here by next weekend; I'll let you know how it goes. From what little research I've read on Erowid, thujone isn't actually hallucinogenic, but simply counters some of alcohol's nastier side-effects (drowsiness, sloppiness, etc.).
yea, but if you drink too much, wait until the thujone wears off and then see how you feel hahaha. dont drink the whole bottle, by the way.
absynth is only sold in the cech republic. its made of worm wood and taste like ozo, or black liquerish. its illegal elsewhere due to extreem drunken behavior behavior, sometimes violent and always unpredictable. my last trip there me and friend drank it. i had onr shot and stopped, i hate black liquerish. my friend however is an alchoholic and heavy drinker and after four shots was in a black out. he was funny, lots of falling down, peeing everywhere, so on so forth.
Absinthe is only illegal to buy or sell within the US; importing any sort of alcohol is illegal (as I recently found out), but won't result in charges (just a warning and an invitation to come pick it up at the nearest international hub). Absinthe is sold almost globally; the absinthe I was drinking was imported from France, however, Portugal, Spain, and several other countries allow the sale/purchase/use of Absinthe. The last time I drank I had about 20 shots and 20 mg of 2-CE, after which I ended up going to work and vomiting blood from a combination of severe nausea and alcohol poisoning.
So what exactly does absinthe feel like?? I'ts one of the few things that I've never had the opportunity to try.
You feel the inebriation (talkativeness, social behavior, lack of judgement) you get from alcohol, but instead of feeling wasted you feel more energetic and focused; for example, if you get drunk on regular alcohol and get into a fight, you'll be a sloppy mess...on Absinthe, however, you'll probably put the other guy in the hospital...
My only tip for that shite is, Never, never make the mistake of vomiting it out of your nose. Common sense really, I know. But the after effects of such an occurance are absolutely terrible. I treid 4 different brands of ciggies in the 4 days following my incident and no matter what type I bought they all tasted like menthols. YUCK!!! Oh yeah, the hangover was absoutly horrid. I honestly thought I might die.
nope. you can get it in the UK for sure, and also in israel i think. gotta be lots more places as well.
my best friend and i have a tradition, for a few years now. every saturday evening, after finishing GM-ing, we go to this small club our friend is running, and have a shot or two of absinth. in our country, absinth is called 'zelena charobnica' which woud mean something like 'green wizardess' or 'green witch' . and the fact is that absinth is legal in most of the countries, because all hallucinogenic supstances have been removed in production process. van gogh drank absinth, and many more of the famous artists of the 19th century. just like shakespeare smoked pot. p.s. you can get it in croatia...
That's why you take whatever it is you are doing in increments. You can always take more in 30 minutes, you can never remove the stuff from your body.
the Absynthe we get in the uk is shite.... easily obtainable and NOT the real thing..... the good stuff is sold in only a handful of pubs across the country and even then you are limited to just a couple of shots.... originaly just medicinal this stuff is amazing.. my fav...
Part of my family are French. In the 1930's my great uncle died from drinking absinthe - he'd become a hopeless addict evidently, so my grandma told me. He ended up in an insane asylum, and died after a few weeks in there.
No - not really. Obviously he died long before I was born, but I believe that absinthe had become a bit of a problem in France during the late 19th - early 20th centuries. On the other hand, Van Gough used to drink it during his time in France, and some say his paintings reflect absinthe visions.
You can get absinthe in any liquor store in Israel, but it's the weak 10 mg/ml, rather than the 100 mg/mL. I never bought any while i was there, as I was barely scraping by on my toilet cleaner's salary... I did try absinthe at SSDD on Jerry's birthday this summer. I probably didn't have enough, but it wasn't a regular drunk. Nothing remarkable, though.
one time i had drank some Absinthe up here in canada. i don't think it was imported and the spelling on the bottle was ABSINTH.. expensive for a bottle of booze too.. i think the 2-6 bottle of it was 70$ maybe it was a lil bigger.. i dono it was alot of fun tho, like we were lighting it on fire with the sugar cube and stuff. but yes deffinatly a different drunk time than normal. we went to a grociery store and bought 6 boxes of twinkies... and well they were gone within like 2 hours.. haha we were dipping them and stuff.. but there was 4 of us and the bottle was gone by the end of the night. i didn't get as sick as one girl. she was like Dry heaving and it was crazy. lol oh yeah the really sick chick had sex in the bathroom with the other guy i was drinkin with, so me and my other chick friend who was drinking with us just watched a french cartoon. it was a good time.. aha then the Sex chick came out and dragged me into the bathroom.. and well she passed out.. so it was crazy.. nothin happend in the bathroom with me thank gawd.. but yeah deffinatly my favorite drink. Ive eben actualy craving it for a week or 2 now.
