yea try getting the bike adjusted right to fit you, both the seat & bars
i used to ride a unicycle everywhre i went, even did several 250+ mile peace marches, & the seat had some rough metal stickin out that wore holes in my leg & unicycle seats arent that confy to begin with, so i know the feelin,
but having it fit ya right will help u alot i think

there's a guy in my mom's neighborhood who collects and restores bikes, and every year on christmas he gets on his bike with the 8' front tire and 12" rear tire, you know the one i'm talking about, right? dressed as santa, and rides the neighborhood ringing a bell and yelling "hohoho merry christmas."

but the guy in the boat car is the coolest.

I take regular spinning classes at the gym and I've been taking them for a good 3 years and my crotch still hurts. I honestly think our anatomy wasn't made for biking. I bought one of those gel seats and (I'm gonna sound like a dork) those padded shorts. But since you're riding to a class I don't think that'll work, hehe.

I realize that this has been a while & maybe you have this worked out but here's my 2 cents anyhow.

Most problems with things hurting when you ride is from not having the bike tunes in to you as far as fit goes. I have been known to stop & readjust the seat/handlebars/whatever seems right in the middle of a ride. I spend a lot of time in the saddle & also do much of my own work on bikes so it's no big deal for me to do it. If you aren't familiar the suggestion that you go into a bike shop & have them help you out is the best answer.

Now here's the thing that you may find is hard to believe. Your gel seat or seat cover could be the problem. I know it sounds counter intuitive but the thing is having a soft seat gives your butt more chance to move around or at least gives more friction when it does. If you have the $$ get yourself a Terry Butterfly Seat] my best friend gave me a hand-me-down like the one in the link & it is just wonderful. I have probably put around a thousand miles on mine & love the way it feels. They have one that is less expensive that isn't made of titanium & if you aren't into speed it won't matter to you to have a few more grams. They also can be bought at bike swaps & on E-Bay. Terry bike equipment is owned by a woman who engineered bicycles & such for women. She did a great job IMHO. These seats almost feel like they are hugging your butt as you ride & are just right for the sit spots. They also have an opening so your privates aren't scrunched. They make one for guys too but they are different sized (thinner & longer) & have a larger slit for their privates.

Bike shorts are also very helpful partly because it puts the padding where it needs to be & partly that it keeps it there so you don't have that shifitng that I was saying before. I wear bike shorts most times or some padded underwear that you can wear under other things when I'm riding & put a change in my backpack. I also have a skort that the shorts part are bike shorts. That is a great way of still not going around in lycra that shows & having the advantages of the padding & support.

There also is going to be some getting used to bing in the saddle if you haven't for a long time but I do suggest that you look into the adjustment thing too.

If you have any questions for someone that rides alot feel free to e-mail or PM me I probably have expereinced whatever you will when it comes to cycling.

    Happy riding!

hehe i solved this problem actually... took off the padded cover and tilted the seat forward a little... now it's just fine :)

the problem was a bit of bruising and tenderness, and just plain being uncomfortable.
