So where do you all get your inspiration for tattoos from, besides yourselves? This must be sort of cheesy, but I got the idea for my second tattoo, which was done yesterday, from Microsoft Word Clipart. There were all of these pretty leafy designs, and one looked like it would make a great tatt, so I ended up getting it under my right breast.
My first tattoo was inspired by the birth of my first son. I got the Kanji of his birth year on my left arm, it is the arm dedicated to my decendants. My second tattoo was inspired by my stong pride and dedication to honoring my ancestors, it is a blue Celtic warriors tattoo that takes up my whole right forearm. I found it in historical paintings and myth illustrations. I got it about 4 years ago, and recently saw one like it on the Arthur movie. My third tattoo was for my youngest son, he was born Ram, it is a solid colored rams skull that I drew in Illustrator (which i do for all of my tats) in is on my left wrist. In the middle of the skull, there is a Ogham line down the middle that is his middle name, Rowan. My only other tattoo as of now goes up my right arm, it is 5 quarter sized blue solid circles lined up from my elbow to my shoulder. I got it for my grandmother last year after she passed. They symbolize bingo dots, her passion in life was bingo and whisky lol. I have a new one planned that starts on my right thumb as a spiral, turns into a pubic v of a woman, with water that flows around under my wrist and waters the roots of an oak tree. It is the origin story of my ancestors of the union between the Bael tree and the Earth Mother that birth our people.
My first one wasn't inspired at all - went to tattooists with mum and aunts who easily chose theirs but rushed me to choose mine, it's thumper from bambi, definately not me but hey I was just a kid then! My second was a drawing that my friend did as a birthday card to her mum and straight away I wanted it on my skin! My third is my husbands initial in calligraphy that I adapted to suit me. There's about six more I'm looking to get and they all have individual meanings
