Throw some names my way..there are so many...yet still those ones you never think of.........I would like something that really means something....and is always very beutiful and spritual
First of all, are you having a boy or a girl? Or, do you want gender-neutral names? Think of the most relaxing place, scent, emotion, or sanctuary of wilderness in your life. What about these things affects you most? Perhaps, a name for your child can be drawn from them.
We had some friends in AZ...mom's name was Tempest & her daughter was Tyshanna. I like the name Tyshanna, but have no idea what the name means.
i have a 2 1/2 year old named Aislyn (az-lyn). We plan to start trying for our next child around december and have already talked about some names. for a boy we're thinking elijou, like them name in the phish song smaple in a jar. i absolutely love that name and it's a fun song! jami
an old girlfriends name was katy blue, well blue was her middle name. i think chest is a nice solid name for a boy. and maybe kitty for a girl, what dya reckon???
My daughter's middle name is Novalee (know-va-leigh), which I love. Can't tell you first name, don't want that name used by anyone other than the family. Sorry. But Novalee is from a book I read way back when I was 15 called "Where the Heart Is". Don't think it means anything, I think the author made up the name.
Novalee may well have been made up, but Nova means 'new' or 'butterfly' (depending on whether you go with the Latin or Hopi origins), and Lee means 'meadow/clearing' (that's English in origin). Makes a sweet mental image. Anyway, yeah .... Could so easily rattle of a list of names, certainly have a huge list for my future offspring. Not up for sharing though, because meh I'm a bit selfish like that. That and my parents chose names just because they sounded good. Which always dissapointed me. So the names I've chosen all have stories and meanings behind them. I try to make them unusual/cool, but wouldn't just for the sake of it. It's near impossible to know how unusual a name actually is. It might end up being the next big thing (like Madison was about eight years ago) or so outright bizzare that even though it's spelt phonetically people still need pronouciation help (as is my poor Branwen's fate, though she's a rabbit). I get naming inspiration from ... my family/heritage people I admire mythology places I've enjoyed visiting, or would like to visit* [either the place name outright, or something from that country/culture] characters in a favourite book or film beautiful things in nature *though wouldn't do the 'place of conception' thing. Would personally hate to have the association of my parents err you know, and may well have to write the place of for life.
That's a cool name. I know someone who's son has Elihu* as a middle name. Also after the song. There is an Elihu in the Bible, no idea of the details though. *That's the standard/common spelling, for what it's worth.
my mates lads are called finton and im not sure how to spell the other name, but its pronounced like tiger with out the r.
like taiga? taiĀ·ga ( P ) Pronunciation Key (tg) n. A subarctic, evergreen coniferous forest of northern Eurasia located just south of the tundra and dominated by firs and spruces.
my boy is called Eden, though i think some people use it as a girls name too. his middle name is Kester, its a medieval version of christopher i think, not sure of the exact meaning. i like kia, kiara, ava, evelyn/evyline and aurora for girls but im terrible with boys names, took us untill he was two weeks old to finally decide his first name, lol and 6 weeks to decide his middle name. i think its good to have a few ideas, then wait and meet your baby before deciding, we were all set on joshua for Eden, then when he was born it just didnt suit him, and we went back to Eden, which was the name we had first agreed we both likes months before, its much easier when you can see them. goodluck honey.xxx
I think some of the Maori names are simply beautiful. I'm really thinking about it to help tie my (far in the future) kids to their kiwi heritage. here's just a few: Moana (mo-ah-nah) which means water marama (mar-ah-mah) which means Moon Aroha (ah-ro-hah) which means love argh, it's so hard to get the pronunciation right on the net though, and half the beauty is in the way they are pronounced. (like - ok this is a little off topic, but - i was watching zoolander and they said maori as 'may-ori' when it fact it's closer to mau-ri, but even that's not right)
site to consider when looking for name meanings: www.behindthename.com just type in a name you like and it will tell you all sorts of stuff about it!
hmmm very cool stuff I really like that taiga name, I really like Chaska for a boy which is first born son. I also really like the name Ravi for a boy, which is sanskrit for sun. I do like the idea of 'unisex' names and thinking more of the meaning and resonance of the sound rather than which gender the name is specified for. My bf and I both thought of the name Gaia, separately, I had a dream about it and he just thought of it on his own, I thought that would've been a great name, but maybe as a middle name because it has such a grand meaning, y'know.
