how would I pronounce the name "vidya"

I have a friend that is hindu and she has a friend named Vidya. how would I pronounce it so I don't sound like an ignorant american?

 

Call her Viddy, Vid, Video, lol j/k

My name was a long Indian name and most people called me with cuts, like sam, sud, steve...

but anyway , you can pronounce it as Vee (weee!!!!) Duh(little kid saying duh) yah(yea with a german accent).

 

but don't call her aviddy or avideo or avidya

 

kinda like "with ya" only the th is pronounced d.

 

vee -dja - so an Indian freind pronounces it.
