Embroider patches! Get an embroidery hoop, some floss, and a needle. Use squares of fabric, and draw on some flowers or whatever you like. Then stitch them in, you don't need to know any fancy stitches. Then you can add the patches to bags or clothing.

A tip.....if you want to make a small one, just stitch the small patch to a larger piece of fabric so that it will fit in the hoop. Cut out the fabric behind the patch. Remove it when you're done!~*

crochet or knit. you can make simple things, like cute little belts, headbands, or hats. it passes the time quite well.

Embroider your jeans! Think of it as making your own record of the trip---if you're in the mountains, do mountains, etc. Embroidery floss is relatively cheap and you can probably find some in any sizable town on your way (if you have to, even Walmart has it).

Another thought is to get some skinny markers or colored pencils and a spiral sketchbook---do a journal, draw, write poetry, put in mementos.

Have a good trip! Wish I was going somewhere for two weeks....

Most craft stores will sell dream catcher kits and suncatcher kits that you can both paint or bake... Those would be fun to make and decorate your camper with...

What a peachy idea! I forgot that... When my husband and I drove down to Arizona the first time (we were still dating at the time) I got a road trip journal, where I documented each interesting thing we passed, collected things like gas station receipts and roadside restaurant menues to scrapbook my journal with, and a polaroid camera came in handy to take interesting snap shots!

my family doesnt go on roadtrips...:(

ANYwho not to bring you down, some things you can do are definitely what was posted right above me, you can definitely make hemp jewelry, there are lots of good books on it, you can... decorate boxes and bottles and the such for your room, maybe decorated with things you collect while on the road, you could if you had a digital camera take pictures of cool things you see and then draw/sketch what you took pictures of (look at the picture on the camera) you can also... ..... bring little things to decorate (hair ties, shirts, etc) as well as picture frames, write letters, draw on yourself :p and of course, if you like, you can write stories and songs! (took me a few minutes of sitting here to figure that out)

My family never did either... the first road trip was the one to Arizona with my hubby... My family did go camping a lot though... for a while it really bugged my brother and I to be stuck in a tent with nothing to do all day... well, my dad insisted on going fishing but that's incredibly boring.

That's what motivated me to learn to do stuff like dream catchers and stuff... it's a good way to kill time while camping, and it's really inexpensive to make!
