So just the other day i had about 7 svchosts runing, i identified the 6 witch were stable, but out of the blue one day i aquired a 7th, wich was an unknown but very possable threat to me. I tried several ways to get rid of it...the effective way was to do a windows repair...so it worked, after the repair 1 minor, but yet very major problem here...everytime i open up my controll panel...i get this error in regards to the ntdll.dll after i close the error, it prompts me to shut down or restart. BUT ONLY WHEN I OPEN Controll panel.. HOW?!?! Please help
If you have your Windows CD, (Wink Wink!) I would copy that dll from CD to the Windows folder the hard way. Say YES to the overwrite prompt. (THIS is what Boot Disks were for.)
svhost is usually a single process run multiple times with different switches, you will get a different count of svhosts running depending on what services you have running. New updates for windows can also increase that count. svhosts are usually only ran by the system and if you find one under a different name then its most likely not that friendly As for ntdll.dll, im sure that the version of the library differs on each windows OS, which OS do you have?
Are you missing the dll file? Please be more specific. Could you give us the exact error message that you are getting?
