This is what I heard on the news this morning that the National Guard or whatever is going into New Orleans with orders of shoot to kill looters. This is absolutely revolting and completely unacceptable and just about what you'd expect in a pig nation. Killing people for stealing a radio or DVD player or liquor -- or maybe for food and water otherwise unavailable. Who gave these orders?
Indeed! The incredible irony of this situation is that these businesses are going to be total write offs anyway, with most of their stock ruined. So what difference does it make if people who now have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, steal somethings to survive until the desperately needed FEDERAL AID finally arrives (if ever). Again, it is the RACIST POLICIES of RICH WHITE REPUBLICANS WHO DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT POOR BLACK PEOPLE, that allows an edict like this to go out. They have no idea what it's like to have absolutely nothing, to be hungry and thirsty and desperate. Yet another crime against humanity is about to be initiated by Bush's blood thirsty administration. In reality, this is just one step away from RACIAL CLEANSING.
I don't believe it was the looters being referred to. I believe it was the armed gangs shooting at rescuers and grabbing women and young girls and raping them. Just a wee bit of a difference, don't you think? Nice rant, though, skip.
This chaos (NOT ANARCHY!), is the result of incompetence at every level. If you choose the definition of anarchy as the ABSENCE of government, then perhaps that would be a fitting description of what's happening. Put the blame where it belongs! BTW, I hear about 50% of the local police have resigned rather than face the looters.
Do you you blame them?? They have no resources, they probably haven't slept or eaten properly in days...most would rather be rescuing survivors and instead they are ordered to go after armed thugs. BTW, these "looters" are gangbangers who stole guns from the local Walmart. They are going around, rampaging into people's homes, shooting and killing people, raping, stealing, and making life even more hellish for the survivors and rescue workers. Anyone who defends these assholes deserves to be shot in their kneecaps. If the NG is ordered to shoot-to-kill these bastards..so be it. People who do shitty things like the above mentioned things don't deserve to live...they just waste space,oxygen, and resources. Sorry, but I've about had it with all the sympathy for people with no consciences, manners, or humanity.
The trouble might be properly discerning the predators from the desparate on a shoot to kill order...
It was already stated by officials that the only looters that will be stopped are those who 1) breaking into private homes 2)taking things that are not necessary for survival. The cops have not been touching people who are "stealing" food, water, blankets, clothing, shoes..ect. They are only targetting people stealing things like TVs, computers, guns, drugs from pharmacies(for recreational and selling uses..not medical uses).
That is indeed the problem (well, one of the problems). The police/Guard don't dare shoot into a crowd for fear of hitting people who aren't causing the trouble. But I don't think the desperate are going to be shooting at someone with an M-16 and body armor. I think the desperate might be thinking "About fuckin time!".
