Can you die in your dream?

I was thinking about it, and I think that any dream where I was about to die, I either realized I was dreaming in the dream or I woke myself up somehow. I don't think my unconscious mind allowed myself to die in my dream.

Any thoughts on this? Scientific findings, etc?

 

I've died in my dreams, but I also ALWAYS view myself in my dreams as a third-party. I'm never actually IN myself.
I have heard though that if you die in your dreams, you then would really die. But that's BS (as far as anyone could know) because if the person dies... then how do you know what they were dreaming about, if dreaming at all? Meh, I think it depends on the person.

 

When i was badly ill after an op. last year i dreamt i was on a rushing train with a man with a pruple-like glow shouting at me to jump off. it was the wrost dream i've ever had the whole feeling of the dream was just real bad. my doctor had said i was in critical sate. i i've always woundered if i'd of jumped off the train my body would have shut downlike that dream was a refection of my body fighting to saty alive(by staying on the train) very weird i always thought. but i dont think that if you were just to die in a dream you would die in real life, dreams are relecting ur most wild thoughts and ur fear of dying is sure to be reflected in our dreams. sorry about the spelling.

 

Mybe your dream is showing your will to be alive, i think this a good sign 4 sure but i'm just guessing

 

hey hold up i just understood what you were asking lol i'm guessing u wake up when you die ur dream or esle how could the dream go on?

 

dreaming that you'll die is acutally said to be a good sign, and that you'll have a very long life...at least that's what grans tells me..and she know this stuff...

 

i was shot in a dream - it hurt like mad and i don't think i woke up right after - i was in some kind of limbo - the pain was gone - there was an overwhelming feeling of nothingness - the absence of feeling i geuss - ble - it was creepy - i felt like i had a cloud over my head for awhile afterwards...

Yeah, cause like, if you dream you're being tossed around and slashed, it'll like really happen.

I saw it in this movie with like this guy who's like all burned and like has knives like attached to his like hands and like stuff.

 

i had a dream where i totally lost consciesness and i could feel myself falling to the ground and everything went black. i could feel myself being drained of all my energy and life then i woke up. it was so creepy i thought it was real.

 

i either wake up, or simply am invulnerable. often something will happen that -should- kill me but i just dont feel it. sucks when i wake up.

 

i often find myself jumping down stairs or off a building etc, and the second that i hit the ground i get drained of all my energy and wake up.

 

I had a dream once where I got shot in the face. I could see blood pouring over my vision and soon all I saw was red. Then my vision was black as I was being pulled through the back end of my body. I started floating up and away from the body and I saw the corpse in plain vision. Then I woke up. I'm not sure if my dreams mean anything because I always have very very very f*ed up dreams and I also smoke a lot of weed .

(dreaming) I fell into a bottomless pit and my stomach felt like....um that wired feeling you get when you are falling. I always wake up before I hit the bottom. Im sure I never experienced death in a dream before.

 

I doubt you would die in real life if you died in a dream. Though if it was vivid enough, it might change you when you wake up, ya know? Like a near death experience, but in a dream. The brain doesn't distinguish between waking and dreaming.

 

But if you have like a really scary nightmare, can you not be scared to death?

 

hm... im sure its happend before, like when an elderly person passes away in their sleep, i'd imagine that they'd be dreaming of sumthing related to 'an end' or dying right before their heart shut down... but i guess the living world will never know

I dont think ive ever died in my dreams.. but i hear your dreams are what your subconcious is thinking an im never thinking about dying
