Basically Cat, my point is you took a perfectly innocent and fun thread about something that excited someone and for others like myself to join in the fun and well, had to get a bit tooooooooo intellectual with it.

Who gives a shit what you think of the auther that excited her?

I am sure though, that I am far more well-read than he is. Even more well-read than he is pretending to be.

 

Most of it. His books were popular because his humor reached every type of audience, much like Shakespeare. It appealed to juveniles and geniuses.

 

And you, of course, are on the juvenile end of that spectrum.

A little advice, more often than not you get further in life with the things that you don't say, than with the things you do. If you don't think he's good - great, take it up with your peers over tea. Instead of doing that, you had to go on and on antagonize and antagonize and what you have accomplished is - well look it up in the dictionary, there's this little word called pretentious, don't pay any attention to the good defintion of the word as it doesn't apply to you.

 

That shouldn't have even been upsetting to Anti, unless she is Thomas Pynchon. If you ARE Thomas Pynchon, then I would like to extend an apology, if not, you might want to work on taking things less personally.

As to the rest of that... my intention wasn't to antagonize (Did you really think I'd need a dictionary for that? I mean, even if you assume that I hadn't read those books, I've, at the very least, observed decent grammar and utilized a variety of words). I was just commenting. And not even in a haughty manner. I didn't mention how boring or ineloquent he was. Or his contrived plots. I just said that I didn't like him.

And I'm the one with all the ego? It was no less than an insult to suggest that I'd need a dictionary to figure out pretentious meant. You were suggesting that you were smarter than me, if I'm seeing things correctly.
