How many of you have just up and LEFT everything behind? Left the US with barely any cash, no idea how you are gonna survive??? Who did you meet? What did you do for cash? Food? Transport? How did you sleep? I guess what I'm asking is, What's it like? I'm an EMT-Basic livin' out in california...Im about to start school next semester to move up to Paramedic...But I'm at the point in my life where all that seems.......Secondary....I know I'm not the only one feelin' like I want to see something new. I wanna leave but I don't know how...I'm lookin' for someone that's been there...And done it rather "successfully" (hehe...term open to personal interpretation). I just wanna leave....India, Cambodia, Thailand, Austrailia....All these places are at the top of my list... Keep On Dreamin' people...See u around
Haha, man, you know what, I say, if you have the money, go. There was once this time in my life where I could have afforded moving to Hawaii. And guess what. Yup, I'm still on the sucky mainland and unhappy as HELL. If I had been smart, I would have gone. I kick myself everyday for not listening to my deepest most inner desires. Do what you gotta do for your happiness. Namaste Francine
i have traveled... finland, sweden, norway, england, france, germany, spain, portugal, canary islands, romania, malaysia, australia, canada, and usa.... can't wait for my next trip. GO.
Hehe, need a job first! And, I'm pregnant, but that's not going to stop me now anyway, I AM going to get to Hawaii, turns out I was hired for a job today, first time in like more than 2 years!!!! Namaste everyone Francine
if you have the freedom and the need to do it than I say just do it... don't even think of what will happen. So much will happen when you leave your own life behind... but its always a new path, new problems, new mistakes... but they will lead you and guide you. Me and my old man packed up our lives and our kids and we move around as much as we can, we own a bus and we travel everywhere. We live out of the bus, and we are able to stay at kynd peoples houses wherever we are. He works odd jobs to make $$ and we sell hemp stuff, glass, and other cool stuff. We make our $$ to feed our kids we have what we need and we get by. If you are serious about it, then just do it. You will feel free. Free the chains that bind you!!!
I agree with the rest, just go for it. It's so crazy, I just decided last night to take off after meeting some inspiring people. So by the end of this weekend I'm leaving, packing all my stuff up and stashing it at my dad's and just taking what will fit into a backpack and twenty dollars. Wow, I'm blown away by it all... But I needed this and the universe brought me my answer If you truly want it the way will be provided. I just needed to meet someone living the life I want to live to kickstart it in me ya know? So the day after tomorrow I'm off to Quebec, going to a gathering and taking it as it comes after that. My loose plans are to find a farm to work at and make enough money to get my son and I to Hawaii for the winter... Then just floating around after that So go for it... haha
That is my dream...I'm building up the courage to do something just like that...I'm so tired of being anchored to a job, a place, etc...I crave the freedom of a nomadic life, but I don't want to do it alone...I guess that's what I'm doing here, looking for a family to join.
that's exactly the same with me. I can't get it out of my head lately. I just want to pick up and leave. Without telling anyone. Just go. I wanna go to Australia or India....but i don't want to get raped a murdered without any money or safe place to stay lol.
you have all asked for somebody that alreay took the steps. well 2.5 years ago i went on a vacation to Puerto Rico, i loved the island. it reminded me of how Florida was 20 years ago, so i went back to Cincy Oh sold my house . me and my kids packed 2 duffle bags each with thing we held most dear. then packed my van up with things we didnt want to let go ov but didnt need and parked it in an uncles barn. then sold everything else at flea market. used that money and bought 3 plane tickets back to Puerto Rico and been here every since. id say to anybody looking to do it, just do it. it has been tuff at times but well worth it. i also keep seeing people talking about other islands namly HI and i have been there before also. and Puerto Rico has it beat hands down . it is much cheaper to survive here. you can get meals to feed entire family for 5.00 its still part of the united states but i truly do not belive the people of the island know it. this is as close as you can get to leaving the US and still be withen its borders. and anybody wanting to give it a try would be welcome here. and if you have farming or gardening skill all the better. where i am now is an old ARMY base that closed in the 50s lots of buildings that the jungle has reclaimed about a mile of beach. and 350 acres of mostly jungle. plenty of room for farming. and rearing a family and animals. at present we make money buy making hand crafted items that are sold to turists in Old San Juan when the cruise ships come in. and are always looking to become more self sustaining.we also curently generate our own electric . using DC to run lighting and small applianes and use power inverters to power a fridge and tv and satilite reciver. so although we are somewhat primitive we are not stone age. well hope this helps . and if anybody is intrested in joining us feel free to contact me. at current we have 4 single parent familes of 5 people age 16 and over and 9 children under 16. we are also listed at http://directory.ic.org/geo/ and the only listing for puerto rico more contact informations is avilable there if you wish .
I read this with great interest - noted that on the ic site the owner was other - presume it's still uncle sam's - does that mean that there is a possibility of eviction ?
Dear Ms.Lucyinthe sky, How much would going to some nice place cost? I am in a real financial bind and am willing to work, but with little or no money, how can one go? Do you know of any communes, farms, or other alternative places to live in Canada? i want to leave here (the U.S.), because it is getting bad. Thank you for any reply and for your time. Sincerely, Hippy Small Town
The truth is if someoone had done this they would not be wasting their time on the internet (if tyhey had done it sucsessfully at least).
