Anybody know how long it takes psilocybin to oxidize at *room* temperature? I am planning on sealing some in a Mason jar and possibly freezing them, but for reasons I won't go into this wasn't possible for about 1 month. The best I could do was keep them in a 'cool, dry place' until now... surely that is not enough time to cause any serious degradation, right?

No, I seriously doubt there will be any noticeable difference, and if there is it will be minimal. When you seal them in the mason jars I reccomend dropping in a chunk of dry ice, put the lid on but don't screw it on, let the dry ice dissapear, then screw the lid on. The carbon dioxide will push out all the oxygen to completely prevent any possible oxidation.

I read about the dry ice method, at Erowid I think... Where would I get that stuff? At a 'party store' maybe?? Or someplace that caters to Clowns & Jugglers and other magicians (my apologies to Syd for abusing his song title...)

It's kinda funny, but with as much fungus as I used to eat when I was a young rascal, I never had to consider the storage issue. Probably because I would just impulsively eat whatever I had, and any quantity (no matter how large) would tend to disappear within a few weeks to a month. Alas, older and wiser, I'm choosing to save these for a good rainy day.... They are rather wickedly intense, I might add -- only three caps and a stem as a 'tester' and I almost came unhinged, came on FAST like a damn tropical storm too.

Dry ice is usually available at a major dairy manufacturing plant or any other type of plant that might need one, ice factory.

Seems like there ought to be an easier way... like if I could manage to drop a burning match into the jar (without igniting the contents, somehow) and let it use up all the air inside.... Or maybe just freeze the jar?? I don't see myself trying to buy dry ice from a dairy anytime soon. ;)

I know I'm digging up an old thread from the dead but I thought I'd toss my 0.02 cents in in case anyone else is searching for a storage method. Vacuum packers can be had quite cheaply these days from dept store giants like walmart and what not. I plan on just vacuum packing mine and tossing them in the freezer, I don't see why this wouldn't work well, it's an easy way to remove the air anyways.
