Yeah, I remember when I learned that film was made with pig guts. So these days I don't pay for movies anymore. There are other ways for the creative idealist...:X Also I only buy used books from non-profit groups like the Senior Center down the street, so I don't believe I'm contributing to the slaughter. I'll even raise you one and say I don't agree with the killing of trees... so I gotta send off to some place in Montana that makes 100% post consumer recylced paper. But your point is well taken... it's hard as hell to live by an ideal, and most people can't do it. I like to think I can. Even if I can't, I can do better than all of you!!!!!!! (That's not an insult... that's a challenge. Please prove me wrong)
Well, it's true that most people can't or don't want to try, but it's not always easy for people or maybe they just don't really understand or have the knowledge like we do about things. My biggest complaint about alot (not all) of vegans and or vegetarians is that they tend to get that holier than thou attitude and try to make people feel small about not doing more or even doing anything. The thing about being vegan is that no one is 100% vegan. It's not possible. Take a look at the world around you and you'll see that we as humans have displaced animals from their homes by building apartments and housing, the roads we drive on, the stores we shop at, the schools we attend. Our cars have animal parts ( be it leather interior or some of the oil/chemicals they use to make the cars). The movies we watch, the computers we use, the books you read, the clothing we wear, the products we use. It's virtually impossible to live an animal cruelty free life. I think it's awesome that you do everything you can to lessen your impact on animals. That's a start. Educating people as well is helpful. Challenging people to learn more is a great way. You are taking a stand and that is a good thing.
I haven't seen either of those movies, but I did look up your points. I don't like that they slaughtered a real buffalo for a movie, that is sick. That movie was also made in 1979. Can you imagine if they made it now? It would be a fake buffalo. People were not as aware that many years ago. The horse head, although it was real, was not decapitated especially for the film. It was already dead at a dog food factory. I still think that is gross, and yes, I eat meat. OK, maybe you are just impressionable, but I have never done anything just because I saw it in a movie. I have never heard of anyone being hit with an anvil just because they saw it on Bugs Bunny... I highly doubt someone ate a lobster because Daryl Hannah made them do it....it'll never hold up in court, as they say...
I'd eat dog shit if it was the only way I could keep a good role. lets see now, eat some meat and make loads of money, or refuse and never act again.. hmm i'll take door number 1
i'm not a meateater, i'm just not a dumbass. if i had to eat meat in order to get known throughout hollywood, i'd do it in a heartbeat.
wow your fucking loyal to your lifestyle.. i feel sorry for your bf if you break this easily...you probly have a dick in your mouth right now(not your bf's)
why do always use sex to try and burn someone? it baffles me anywho as to the meat eating in movies i would opt for the fake meats and such..
lmao Soulrebel & Lukus! Actually, Soul, even though I don't agree w/ you, I like your stance. Eating meat (in whatever situation) is fine if you know what you're doing. My gripe is with the ppl who might do it & then feel all guilty about it. There's a movie called "The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover" that opens with a nasty scene of a naked guy getting force fed dog poop. Um... I'm 75% sure the dog poop was fake...
I'm sure the money I'd be making and the future I could have would take care of that guilt. Its not like I dont eat meat because I care about the animals' feelings, I just find most all meat to taste pretty damn bad. So I guess it'd be pretty easy for me to do.
There are actors who play murderers in movies, and I'm sure that at least some of them don't murder. You can play a murderer without becoming a murderer, so I'm sure you can play a meat-eater without eating meat.
if it wasnt real meat of course. or id suggest the character eat something else, but if the person was an avid meat eater, then i probably wouldnt have tried for the part anyways.
Edit- Sorry, I didn't read that you knew it was fake. Yeah, I'd eat it. I don't personally have a problem with eating meat. Besides, even if I did, I don't think people would see me eating meat in a movie and say "wow, she's doing it! I should eat meat now."
