WASHINGTON - The Army is planning for the possibility of keeping the current number of soldiers in Iraq -- well over 100,000 -- for four more years, the Army's top general said Saturday. http://www.military.com/NewsContent/0,13319,FL_army_082105,00.html?ESRC=army.nl
You're 14? Well, my advice to you is to go to college, and don't think about the military. You're hearing that from a 10 year military vet. I feel shitty to be giving that kind of advice, but...hell, this isn't a good time to go into the service, and the outlook for the next 5-10 years is just as grim. I had a friend, a young guy from my hometown, who joined the Guard as a mechanic. He was changing a tire on a truck somewhere in Iraq last summer, and was blown apart by a mortar during an attack. I'm not saying you shouldn't serve your country, I'm just saying this is the wrong war, and it would be a good idea to steer clear of it.
Why woudl it be a goal to be there for 20 more years? Why is there no exit strategies being thought up?
College wont keep you from being drafted anymore..it'll only defer it until the end of the semester. They need educated people to press all the pretty red buttons over there.
i beleive we will be there longer than any of us live! do you realy belive there is an intention to leave?
I thought we accomplished our mission three months after the war started....Eh, three months, four years...same difference, right?
