hmm difficult question! there are so many variables. i dont think necessarily that the key is to lead an interesting life, but i think the key is to be observant and perhaps have a good opinion or understand of life. or seeing the world differently to most people... presenting a different viewpoint. one may lead a relatively boring life (in relation to others), but because of the way they think, write beautifully and enthralling pieces.
Maybe living a boring life in some occasions helps. It means you have to make up shitloads to get any interest. And maybe you pay more attention to the interesting stuff. If interesting stuff is the norm to you you might not be able to describe it and the feelings as well because you do pay was much attention. But I'm sure an interesting life helps in other occasions, too.
Exactly My life is pretty fucking boring, yet I can write pretty well. It's an escape from the teduim.
...Ehh... It should say "The key to becoming a good writer is living an interesting life in your head."
False. you can leave a boring life, and have an incredibly imaginative mind. one could even argue that those who lead a boring life are more creative because they have to find some way to keep themselves entertained while those leading interestng lives are doing something interesting.
As far as I'm concerned, every life is interesting. No two people live their lives in the exact same way. If I had live my life in a different way, it would be like looking at the world from an entirely different angle. It would affect my choices, my thoughts, etc. Yeah, that's hard for me to answer.
i lead a shit boring life and i'm an awesome writer. coincidentally sometimes i lead an exciting life and i'm a shit awful writer. right now is one of those times.
i write because my life is boring. so i can at least imagine that there's more excitement in my life. i also write about certain things that go on in my life, but exagerate them or lead them on into further development so i can think that it's what happened. it's just something to do. something to wish about or think of.
true becuase evryoine leads an innterseting life.. false becuase some poepl write eastenders...or other such crap drama series...
as so many have said in there way, being a good writer is not what you say, but how you say it. You can say, I got up this morning and had breakfast, or you can say. i awoke from peacefull slumber by first breath of the day, the sounds of a newly arisin world pulling me from the land of dreams. The scent of my morning repast filled the air, drawing me from my bed and into the heart of the house.... to be a realy good writer you have to learn how, and practice
aye, definitly false. imagination compensates. that and i've read a couple of great book about some really boring things.
The single most important thing in writing is being observant. It doesn't matter how "boring" or "interesting" you think your life is. All lives are full of intriguing intricacies, you just have to notice them. There's a lot more going on in your lives than you give them credit for.
I don't think you have to have an interesting life to be a good writer...or that if you are a good writer you have an interesting life that will make you a good writer. This is a really good question...so just let me ramble about some thoughts for a minute. Even if a good writer has some experience that they find incredibly boring, or somethign that sucked, they can write about it, make humerus observations, etc...and that can make for great writing. But if a person who is not a writer, but has very interesting experiences, tries to write about them...they might leave out little details that make writing so great, or might have enhanced the experience even--and if they weren't observant they didn't even notice them. And besides, to me anyway, all my life is interesting.
