That picture above of the Pub was taken on a rare day that it did not rain.

Claire - I dislike some U.S. corporations too. Guess who my husband worked for for 18 years - Enron Corp. Heard of them?

Which is fine, but there's just a teensy outside chance that if your life's shit, it's not always Tony's fault ;)

our natural resources are still so big we can actually get away with less highly educated people but dont worry theres allways enough rich parents here to make sure a elite group of young people well get the best education money can buy.

yeah, i only said that tounge in cheek, but it does seem a bit true to me, its not a dig cus im totally uneducated myself. but it all seems pretty sly of the goverment to offer sub standerd education, breeding ignorance maybe. this sounds like im been really harsh, but i got american friends and they agree, but saying that they might have not understood the question and just nodded there heads heh;)
but its the same here, if you come from money then u get taught at a diffrent place to the rest of us, and learn things that they dont teach us, like how to govern people etc.

Boothy, I'm afraid that we shall have to agree to disagree here.

On Africa, the only thing that Tony has REALLY given is some good sound bytes and a shoulder for Sir Bob to cry on.

As for your comments on voting, if you (and everyone else) believes that there are only 2 parties running and a vote for any other would be a wasted vote then you are correct, only Labour or Conservative will ever get in.

But I know for a fact that many people in our town wanted to vote Lib Dems but said the same as you, so we are now stuck with another Labour candidate and a lot of people who can't complain because they voted the twat in.

Now, what if all of those people in our town who wanted too, actually did vote Lib Dems, instead of believing the media and party spin that a vote for anyone other than us (labour or Cons) is a wasted vote? Then the Lib Dems might have won this seat. And then what if every other town across britain did the same? We would have Charlie pulling our troops out of Iraq about now.

I am by no means a lib dem supporter by the way, I was using them because you did. But it could be any party, Green, BNP, Socialist, Raving Monster Looney....

The whole damn system needs a shake-up.

And people, we don't only have a voice every 4 years (if we have one then). Make yourself heard!! Lobby your MP, write letters to Tony, protest in the streets. Don't sit and moan and then tick Cons or Labour in 4 years time. If you really believe that it will only ever be a 2 party race then at least make it as bloody difficult for those 2 parties to ignore us as possible.

They are not our boss, they were put there to represent the people of the country, to listen and serve our interests. They lost sight of this a LONG, LONG time ago, lets damn well remind them!

    End of rant )

^I completely agree with that. I'm not saying it's how it shoudl be, but as we have both pointed out, unfortunately that's the way it is - people will not vote Lib Dems because of the Conservatives possibility of getting in government.

However, in terms of the system needing a shake-up... I think the time is now. I really think the country is ready for something new, we just need someone to lead the people, or something major to rise them.

proportional representation would ensure our vote wasnt wasted... but thats unlikely to ever happen....and it would probably result in a three way split and a coalition... no bad thing i say...
meanwhile Blair and his family continue to act as though they are royalty and genuinly believe the nation is inspired by them.... the poor man is always so disallusioned..
no amount of wriying to MP's will make a difference... your MP probably gets his 5 mins in the House on a Friday afternoon when every other bugger has gone home...not deaf ears...no ears....

Now there's 2 things that we agree on!

I often see an "uprising" coming and get excited about it, but I just as quickly see it falling and get depressed. It's a strange one. I think that there are "leaders" out there, and there are the people willing. But I think that it does still need (for whatever reason?) something major to rise them.

Looking at (and I don't want to start a whole different debate here) the economy and where it is heading in the next few years, combined with the impending oil crisis, I think that we may have the neccessary catalyst for MASS action.

Who knows? Uprisings have happened over simpler things, like a loaf of bread!

[IMG]In early 2004, the British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, established the Commission for Africa. The 17 members of the Commission, 9 from Africa and all working in their individual and personal capacities, published their report "Our Common Interest" on 11 March 2005.
The Commission's report is addressed to the leaders of the G8 and to the wider international community. It is also addressed to the people of Africa and the world as a whole. The measures proposed by the Commission constitute a coherent package to achieve the Commission's goal of a strong and prosperous Africa.
