i have become obsessed!!!!! by the film, book, anything :S i need help, how can i help my obsession to stop, its especially the caterpillar!!!! help! please.
If one has to be obsessed, then I can't think of many better obsessions than 'Alice in Wonderland'. Exploring every nuance of every scene can take a lifetime, but can be as rewarding an experience as any journey through the 'doors of perception'.
A great way to kill the obsession is to feed it. Do you have any idea how many film versions of Alice in Wonderland have been made? I grew up loving the Disney version, but it lacks a certain something after seeing the others that make a slightly more concious effort to stay 'to the book'. I also suggest staying as far away as you possibly can from the four hour tv musical version produced in the mid 1980's (Sammy Davis Jr. played the Catepillar, the poor dope). It's total crap.
WHAT? I thought that one was awesome in it's creepiness. Its fun to play the "who the hell is that" game when trying to place the actors from the time period. Plus, this one has the Zabberwalky.. or however you spell it. It was way trippy too... like when the White Queen morphed into the sheep and started Baaa-ing at Alice.
wow cheers for all the advice, i shall do them lall! (except avoid AND watch a 4 hour film, because i thik that would be hard!)
Trippy indeed. Just when you thought Carol Channing couldn't get any creepier. heeheheehee... for a REALLY trippy Alice movie, I suggest the yugoslavian live action/stop motion version. waaayy out there. porn alice... *LOL*!! that was a riot.... in sooo many wrong ways.
I was trying to think of her name! I kept coming up with Stockard Channing, but knew that wasn't right... lol.
Everytime i watch it, i find something new and interesting thats revealed. So i keep watching it over and over
There used to be an alice in wonderland back when I was like 6 or 7, and it was an old version, not animated, and one of the scenes this old woman turns into a goat or something. Anyone remember this version? I've been trying to find it for ages. I have no idea what the total name is, and how to find it. Any help would be great. Thanks PS I'm obsessed too!
I like the amime in this. It's neat how they set up the characters in the film and the whole story backround of it. Good movie!
I get that from reading the book. I spent years with a tattered copy of it in my trenchcoat pocket to read whilst meandering through the city. Lemme tell ya, you dont need drugs for a head trip. Just read Alice in Wonderland while sitting in the 42nd street subway station in NYC in the middle of the night. It helps to have not slept for a couple of days. Great frelling book
the book is the best and most original, and always will be, though i cantr help now imagining disney alices voice when i read the book
man in like jr high i watched that movie everynite before bed... then i tripped for the first time and got a whole new meaning out of it.. my favorite movie of all time
Is the cartoon version a good one to start on, or what? I haven't seen it since I was a kid (and don't remember anything about it at all). So I'm basically new to it. I think the blockbuster i go to only has the cartoon version though.
I like the part were they're dancing around a fire to dry off but get wet every time a wave comes in. For some reason that cracks me up.
my parents say that they knew i was destined to become a hippy when Alice and Fantasia were the only disney movies i would watch...aside from those two...i was convinced that disney was evil...and still am.
